Tokyo residents have been marvelling at “China quality” weather of their very own, with the annual toxic dust storms blowing in from China more spectacular than ever – although identifying it as such is apparently now too politically sensitive for the government.
The Japan Meteorological Agency has been facing accusations of attempting to play down the China connection entirely – in one widely questioned report, it insisted the yellow haze “was not” the yellow sands which blow over from China on an annual basis, as did the NHK, which refrained from using the common “yellow sands” term in favour of the entirely ambiguous “haze.”
Although the sands are a “natural” phenomenon (if the results of massive desertification on the continent and the pollutants the shroud is laden with can be considered so), with health-threatening levels of “PM2.5” pollutants now blowing over Japan, the issue is rapidly becoming yet another politically sensitive issue.
for real?
in korea, we didn’t get any of it…
nice weather… i wonder why… really.
==ㅅ==;;
China is now exporting pollution. Makes sense – it’s their growth industry.
Rather than going through South Korea, as one might expect, it just arcs below SK, completely sparing SK, and goes back up to cover almost the entirety of Japan. What a slap in the face to Japan.
Maybe the spirit of Chinese slain at the hands of the Japanese from back in the days are at play here, angry over the island dispute.
actually, SK gets this ‘yellow wind’ pretty much on annual basis. Every three seasons, some s♥♥t from china blows over and fucks up the already fucked up air in SK and everyone fuckin wears SARS masks that are bleached yellow and piss-color like they all just pissed out of their mouths after walking outside for 10 minutes.
China’ s revenge 🙂
