Apple Bans 2ch for “Hate Speech & Porn”

Apple has banned all 2ch-related Apps from its app store for offering too-ready access to porn and hurtful remarks.
Their decision was reported by the developers of a 2ch.net browser app, one of several listed, who suddenly found their product banned.
They report that Apple withdrew permission for their app to be listed as “it is our policy not approve apps which facilitate access to pornographic images or violent expressions.”
Even Apple had to address why it would permit Internet browsers or Twitter apps to offer access to such content whilst banning 2ch-browsers – it says the difference is down to “the frequency and ease of access to” porn and slander on 2ch.
Apple also states that it will be getting rid of any other apps which facilitate access to the site, leaving users with no option but to use a browser or give up on their unhealthy non-Apple approved content altogether.
Apple’s decision means that such apps will no longer be listed on its marketplace, and that no further updates will be possible for them, although (for now at least) it will not be remotely disabling existing installations.
2ch’s atrocious design and purely text-based interface have long supported a large ecosystem of popular 2ch-browsers, plugins and external archive sites, so forcing users to rely on a traditional browser for their 2ch-browsing needs is likely to prove a major inconvenience.
The majority of boards on 2ch itself are concerned with uncontroversial content, but anonymous participation, nearly non-existent moderation throughout and the presence of some highly controversial boards have ensured it has maintained its “underground” image despite its massive popularity in Japan.
There has not surprisingly been a great deal of criticism of the decision on 2ch itself – most of whom now seem resigned to either using their existing apps without updates for as long as possible, or else switching to Android.
Why Apple would block 2ch whilst allowing the likes of Pixiv, DMM and others has also been the subject of some speculation – reasons other than Apple’s hatred of porn and free speech are thought likely to be at play.

and yet on their TV programing such as Raw and Smackdown as well as their PPVs they freely have match ups showing Women Vs. Men and even have Female participants in events such as the Royal Rumble. So yes hypocrites indeed.

The WWE has had only a few special Women vs. Men matches, typically only a woman on-par with the physical strength of the male wrestlers, like Chyna or Beth Phoenix. Same with the Royal Rumble, the only women to compete in it were Chyna, Beth Phoenix and Kharma, all very strong, powerfully built women.
There are some mixed-gender tag-team matches, but those require that if a woman tags in, a woman on the other team is automatically tagged in. So no, it's not assholery and they're not hypocrites.
The image of men hitting women, even for fictional entertainment like pro wrestling, is disturbing to a lot of people. One would wonder why you're so eager to beat up women.

I believe 2ch is thought to have around 20~30 million unique users (can't be bothered to check that now, it was definitely in that order of magnitude). You certainly can't lump them all together. I'd say reddit and 2ch are about equally bad.

Android isn't really the better OS as far as technology is concerned (Java? Really?). But at least it's free and open and uncensored and has all the basic Unix goodies to play around with in a terminal readily available.

What use is a Unix if you can't use a terminal in any meaningful manner because you simply don't have the privileges to do so unless you jailbreak? Basic binutils and a terminal is available to the Android user from the get go. That's why i wrote readily available.

Object C in Apple's Sandbox is actually much worse to deal with than Java's limitations.
But even if you personally dislike Java, it is a senseless discussion. The App development language is hardly something relevant to compare OS capabilities.
What is wrong with Java? Seems like a good choice to me. Besides you can use the NDK and program in some other language if, for some reason, you need that.
Free and open? What world do you live in? Android isn't free, companies selling Android devices have to pay a licence fee to Microsoft. It isn't guaranteed to be open, either. Most of it is licensed under ASL rather than GPL, so Google don't actually have to release the source code. So far they have done that some months after the product release, but who knows what might happen in the future?
No, it is free because the ASL guarantees freedom. And it's open in all but name, for all intends and purposes. Cyanogen Mod isn't going away even if Google inexplicably decides to close the AOSP. What little innovations Google makes to the kernel is re-implementable easy enough. Heck you could go ahead, fork a suitable Linux version and have a working Jelly Bean kernel in well under a month.
