Final Fantasy X HD Announced: “But It’s For The Vita…”

Square Enix’s glorious policy of recycling as much of the Final Fantasy franchise as possible rather than risking any new games has yet again born fruit – in the form of Final Fantasy X HD, for the PlayStation Vita.

Amongst Final Fantasy fans there has been some enthusiasm, tempered by the choice of platform and some lingering doubts over whether a Vita port really warrants the “HD” label.
However, Sony has also announced a huge price cut on the PlayStation Vita in Japan – with both wifi and 3G models dropping to ¥19,980 (a ¥10,000 drop in the case of the 3G model, with international changes not yet announced) and the 32GB “bonus pack” including the 3G model for ¥24,980 – from the end of the month, in what looks to be an effort to breathe some much needed new life into the platform.

I was very, very sure they recently mentioned that it was for the PS3 and the Vita--not exclusive to the Vita. This advertisement is showing the models on the Vita because they're also advertising the reduced-price Vita pack, on which this game will be promoted and sold together with.

Great to hear, this scared the fuck out of me. I may eventually want a Vita, but when I'm out, I'm doing things, I don't have time for handhelds. And if I'm home, I want my shit on my bigass TV. I was so happy to hear of FFXHD, and thinking it's only for the Vita for a moment... nearly killed my night.
They did, it was supposed to be a part of that HD revision thing, with Metal Gear Peacewalker and Moster Hunter HD.
Whats weird is that sancom is reporting this like its new? They announced ffx hd for ps3/vita a long time ago (at least over 1 year ago). There's nothing new in this post since the release date is still TBD. Seems like a cheap attempt to take a jab at the Vita.
Seems like sancom, while trying to be about news is still essentially a blog and thus who gives a fuck if they're late to the game.

It is the first time in since launch that any footage of FFX for Vita is released.
And it looks virtually identical to how it looked on the PS2. :P
Can get the same effect with a much better resolution with a ps2 emulator anyways..

You've never seen how shitty the non-cutscene models for FFX are have you? The textures are late ps1 quality and everything falls apart into a low poly/low res mess.

I sure hope so. FF used to be a great series but with all the clunkers that keep getting put out for it I think the franchise has been irrevocably damaged and is beyond repair. It's time to let it die.

squaresoft merged. made kh 1&2 two of the gratest gams ever made. ffxi one of the greatest mmo's ever made. nuff said. grant it x2 xii and xiii are garbage. xiv was decent and will be better when arr drops. because they realized it didnt have that charm that made ffxi so good. the new gaming community is full of wannabe gamers who have no clue whats good or bad. its ashame
While both Kingdom Hearts are amazing, the first one was made by squaresoft, not Square-enix.
FF XIII-2 sales were horribly compared to the first XIII. One of reasons being reviews and people alike thrash the game to oblivion calling it "Tahe Worst FF Ever Made." Then Square brought out a third...
Considering the cost of development and the amount of time it takes to finish a game in today's market. I say the whole XIII was planned as a damn trilogy, which was a fucking bone head move on their part considering you never know how much of a success or complete flop a game can be.
Didn't they learn from FF12 = Excellent Graphics mixed with Bad Story and wannbe MMO Gameplay does not make a game.

FF12's combat system was an exercise in automation programming. To be honest it went the opposite direction as to what kids with ADD are used to from MMOs.
That's where they failed, the boss fights should be exceptions to the rule. and every field should require different set of automation rules instead of one rule fits all scheme. However, being able to adjust party member's AI is a big plus for me. I'm playing Ni no Kuni right now, and every boss fight my party members get reamed because the AI is absolutely retarded.
THATS why the game play felt so boring.... having your current stage boss beeing cleared by your automated trio.
but the programming was actually funny. wish there would be more easy cheasy programming out there...
Im not sure if alot of people realize, but alot of FF X backrounds were pre-rendered 2D. Knowing how Squenix is all about squeezing the most money out of gamers with little effort on thier part, what do you think they did about that? Nothing most likely. We're going to be left with a pixelated mess of backrounds while the 3D models will look good. If thats the case you'll probably do better with a certain PS2 emulator.

FF X blitzball was good as shit. X-2's was broing shit
FFX was great in story line and play method and as it is I would hope it would be a new game not just a re-hashing of the exact same game. FFX-x2 was like a auto-mated computer bot game. You had to tape your controller to press the attack button while you slept with the group of monsters attacking and respawning like in the desert at level 4. That was pretty sad but the story line that unfolded was pretty good. I do not regret playing either of those but I never finished FFX-x2 without cheating (gameFaq.com) FFX however was wonderful.
Blitzball has been famed as being the best FF mini-game in the entire series.
No doubt, blitzball was amaaing, I seond LOT of hours with that mini-game, it was so fucking addictive, best or one of then top 3 best mini-games I have EVER played on any rpg.
Whenever I hear or read Blitzball, I can't help but think of Wolfgang Krauser.
Yeah. There were only two things I didn't like about blitzball:
1. They made sure your first experience with it was to get your ass handed to you in a championship game.
2. Getting Wakka's best weapon from it took waaaaay too long. Blitzball was fun, but not nearly fun enough to make 30ish hours tolerable...
