AKB48’s Minami Minegishi Shaves Off Hair As Sex Apology

Even creepy AKB48 fans have recoiled at Minami Minegishi’s shocking act of atonement for being caught “spending the night” with a male friend: the distraught idol was made to shave her head and apologise to fans on YouTube – although her unflattering new hairstyle and public humiliation may be the least of her worries, as she was also punished by being demoted from active AKB48 membership.
AKB48 officially recorded her humiliation for the benefit of fans:
In addition to shaving herself, she has also been formally punished by being dropped from AKB48’s active ranks to “research student” status.

Yo, if you follow their group/forum chatter. Minegishi (or "Geesh") did this head shave of her own will. She did NOT consult management or even other group members.
She was simply demoted and she can return to "active status" in 9-18 months if keeps out of trouble but she'll be 21-22 and most girls graduate by then unless. She's better off looking for another gig.
What's really awkward is she's the go-to gal for when they need a seasoned original member for talk shows and she's 3rd most used for MC during shows. Also she's part of 3 girl sub-unit called "No Sleeves" and her demotion now affects them & they just released a new single a month about a month ago.
If this happened before I married a Japanese woman, I would have reconsidered soon enough and avoided lot of problems...

Ok this is just disturbing and maybe it's time for Yasushi Akimoto and his cronies to face a criminal investigation.
For what dumbass? The girls voluntarily agree not to have sex and sign a contract saying so. Their parents also agree to this (Minegishi, like many idols was very young to start...14). Akimoto is within his rights to fire her and he'd also have a case for sueing her for breach of contract. He didn't fire her because she's popular but she'll quietly go soon. Obviously, she isn't into being an idol anymore but don't look for her elsewhere...only a small handful of AKB girls will have careers after AKB. Minegishi will simply become someone's wife, which will be the fate of most idols (and it's THEIR choice...read up on AKB girls and by far the most popular choice when asked what they want to become in the future is a wife). Just ask Mrs Akimoto...she was once a popular idol.
