But, there have been cases of female fans of male seiyuu blowing up over them getting girlfriends or wives, Mamoru Miyano being the most famous example, with some of his fans allegedly praying that she would miscarry. The difference is his career didnt suffer despite all the wank. Maybe its just because female seiyuu otaku are a lot less fucking retarded than male ones.
Female fans are arguably worse, as they are just as obsessive even though they should be aware of how ridiculous and sexist the whole "these people must remain single for MY sake" thing is. The difference their preference of seiyuu just doesn't affect sales as much as it does with men.
