Top creepy otaku manga Genshiken is to receive a new anime adaptation, covering its second post-hiatus incarnation and new cast of characters, it has been announced.
Amongst fans a certain amount of trepidation has attached to the amount of material available to be adapted and whether any remaining material from the first manga will be used, but otherwise there seems to be a great deal of anticipation.

i don't really get why did they remake it, first one was pretty good, nobody would look at it if it was bad in the first place, do you happen to know why or you just saying that because you're excited :D ?
There's no remake involved.
This is the 2nd Generation genshiken where, Ohno and Ogiue (and Kuchiki) are the only original members left.
I know, but actually it's not boring at all, because with new characters comes new stories to develop.
Can't wait to see the cosplays in anime form.

If you liked the first series, give the second series a try. I'm loving the new characters they introduced.

Can't see a 20+ episode season, but can absolutely see another very solid and great 12-13 episode one.
But yeah, catching up on Genshiken when comiket came around, it's "different" for sure with the new cast, but it's still just as interesting and great as always.

No, they are making an Anime of the second "season" of the Manga.
except for Ohno and a few glimpse of some of the other characters this is a whole new cast.
The only relation this one have to the first "season" of the Manga is the club and Ohno.

People don't realize it, but Genshiken "2" is a direct continuation of the "original" Genshiken. Even in manga sites, it's not tagged as "Genshiken 2" or even "Chapter 1", but directly as "Genshiken Chapter xx"
ok, this is from the new series, but what aboutthe old one?... there are still bunch of chapters, which are need to be animated(43-55; at least because of they're better then the new ones), and they can snugly fill at least two episode of OVA...
I'm glad we'll have more of the series. One thing I would like to see them adapt is why Oguie had so much difficulty fitting in and why she felt uncomfortable around yaoi even though she secretly liked it - that's something the first season never revealed.
Finally I have an anime to look forward to this year.

In the original Genshiken, we all knew someone like Madarame, Ohno, Sasahara (he was usually the self-insertion character..), and the Saki-alike who kept themselves on the fringe of the internet.
Genshiken 2? ... Everyone is a fiction. The fujioshi are 'idealised', and Hato is MOST DEFINITELY idealized-- 'what? you mean he has no serious mental issue, like college crossdressers have IRL? ... Watch out! Here's another incoming fantasy trope of Traps being sexier than real women!'

The Ogi-chin and Susie interaction more than makes up for it. Besides, Madarame shows up frequently since he lives nearby the school. And the other old characters show up almost as much.
I read the manga and I enjoyed it alot. I can imagine myself enjoying the anime as well.
I prefer original cast, and did not enjoy the manga with new cast. But I will give the anime a shot.

The new Manga with the new cast just seem so shallow and uninteresting. You don´t have the drama and problems that the first cast went through.
Now it´s more like a relaxed version with some comedy(?) moments put in.

No, he got a job really close by to the school and still hangs out at the club once in awhile. He's actually still a major character.
Actually, now that I think about it, in the same way Anakin Skywalker became the center of the six Star Wars movies despite not being a protagonist in most of them, Madarame has become the center of both of the manga series.
