The 2nd episode of mahou shoujo oshiri anime Vividred Operation has delighted viewers with more dazzling transformation sequences and even some tasteful docking action.
Despite the plethora of oppai anime this season, quasi-pantsu anime appear to be making a comeback, given the impressive TV ratings garnered by the 1st episode – as announced by the anime’s director himself – which may indicate the show has managed to combine both mahou shoujo fans with those of a certain aerial pantsu anime….

yes! someone actually threw out a Nanoha comparison instead of the hohum strike witches for once. i would say this takes more from Nanoha and Mai Otome than that other mess of a series.
The Strike Witches comparison is definitely a bit lacking. Vividred looks like it wants to be a send-up to the super sentai, mahou shoujo, and mecha musume genres, all rolled into one, and episode two did a fan-fucking-tastic job at it.

Lol its not a mess. Its brilliant.
Whether it's more like Strike Witches or Nanoha will be decided by its story. Personally I hope for a darker Madoka-esque story! But it looks more like a Pretty Cure setup with the villain(?) girl definitely joining up with the rest at some point to fight the real bad.
Actually, to me, that girl with the bow did have a similar vibe as homu. But I say the strike witches comparison is more than fair. I mean here's the lack of pants, the shoes that make you fly around, hell there's even neroi in this, they just happen to go by a different name. And the whole first battle was was very similar to just about every battle in strike witches, not only with all the close-up crotch shots, but also just the battles overall set up.
Who cares what it's similiar to. Just enjoy!

Vividred doesn't want to be the new Strike Witches. It wants to bee the new Nanoha. Which is impossible since Nanoha is THE Action Mahou Shoujo. But the attempt is appreciated.
Yuri scenes are also much, much appreciated. In fact considering that its pretty well known Nanoha/Fate are an item the only way for Vividred to 1-up Lyrical Nanoha would be to have explicit yuri.
Well. I can dream.
BTW Oppai anime > Pantsu anime pretty much always. Simply because every Oppai anime is ALSO a Pantsu anime.
I guess the only thing going for Vividred is the moe. Then again I'm also addicted to moe.

It's like 99.99% of the time she looks like some generic little girl/Miku-wannabe, but for that one instance she turned into a smoking hot woman.

Just compare scenes when there are those girls on screen (happy -everything will be fine- utopia) and when there are none (-everyone, serious business here-). Dissonance is strong in this one. Not that it's a bad thing, I guess.

Story doesn't look set up to take a serious turn.

This is like Strike Witches but with homeages to old AWESOME GIANT ROBOT ACTION STUFF instead of the classic WW2 stuff.
Seriously the action scenes were amazing, I never expected a fucking fusion out of nowhere and then a mecha musume kicking ass with a giant hammer.
This shit is like gaogaigar and strike witches and nanoha having a baby of delicious pantsu, sweet yuri and awesome robots and I FUCKING LOVE IT.
SW? Except this is without lolis (since Momo isn't even a part of the main cast).
