The sight of sweet young McDonald’s burger flippers dressed as maids for New Years at a Taiwan branch of the fast food giant has lately delighted patrons and otaku maid fanciers alike.
The event was limited to one branch only, but there were soon calls for a Japanese version to correct the travesty of even Akihabara branches being unmaided:
Sadly for maid lovers there does not seem to be much chance of staff at the restaurant anywhere dropping their usual uniforms for such outfits, although whether the press of otaku customers would make up for the loss of normal ones seems doubtful.

In North America I do not think they understand the appeal of the "Made Cafe Culture". In Canada we had a Maid Cafe right on the outside of Chinatown. It was quickly closed down due to "conflicts of interest", and since then no other Maid Cafes opened up.
