Anime fans have rendered their verdict on the best anime of 2012 – although with a distinction of such incredible merit at stake, there have been some understandable concerns about irregularities in the 35,000 votes cast…

Those wondering about the sudden (though perhaps not undeserved) surge in popularity of Kill Me Baby need look no further than the efforts of the Vippers in their “Let’s make Kill Me Baby Number 1!” thread – although that it managed to inspire such mischievous dedication is perhaps quite a recommendation in and of itself.
Meanwhile moeblob fanciers may just discount the top 3 as the result of vote-rigging otaku factions…

Kill Me Baby, Really all I heard about it was that it was boring so I didn't bother watching and now I found out its super popular. So it looks like I missed out on something good.

Akihabara was filled of Kill Me Baby while it was airing, so yeah it's popular.

you don't have to follow the seasonal animes like a groupie, there's a world of anime outside of 2012. I watched like 1 or 2 episodes of a couple of series from 2012 and OMG, anime has really gone down the crapper.... -__-
You use 1 or 2 episodes to dismiss the 250+ series that aired this year...

I've been catching up on a lot of older stuff people recommended for me.
As a general rule I filter out stuff that's labeled as MOE, Slice of Life, and Ecchi. The only thing that Didn't have that this year was Eureka Seven AO. And to be honest, that series kinda let me down once the quartz gun came into play.

Haven't watched any anime. I come here for the china explosions, japanese school bullying, 'murica bashing, and photo galleries.

I'm a little surprised/depressed not to see NAZO NO KANOJO X/MYSTERIOUS GIRLFRIEND X make the top 50. If you can get past the drool-tasting, Mikoto Urabe is one of the more interesting female characters to have appeared in an anime in quite a while and those dream sequences are mindblowingly weird.
It was definitely my favourite of 2012. I guess because I have a drool fetish, but regardless, Urabe is probably one of my favourite characters of all time!

IMO polls are the most missing feature here.
