No it's illegal for us to own a fully automatic. You would have to be active military or something along those lines to own one. I'm sure there are other cases but ordinary citizens owning one is a Federal crime.

In fact you can purchase Full auto guns in the U.S. legally it is called a Class 3 permit they are VERY VERY strictly controlled and VERY expensive due to NFA OF 1986 which stopped new manufacturing and importation of full autos if your curious use google you can find out all about it.

In Texas, you can keep a gun in your car without a license, so long as it's out of sight--can't leave it in the seat or on a rack in the rear window. Otherwise you can get a concealed carry license so you can take a weapon to places that do not specifically prohibit it, such as schools. Open carry is restricted as far as I am aware.
