    hm. I actually stopped watching this one because I hated the main character, but I might check this out just to see what's going on here.

    I wholly agree with Shia. I gave this series like 9 episodes and Akatsuki annoyed me more and more with each episode. He came off more and more of a Gary Stu and a fanfic character that folks who don't know anything about character development and interactions would write about.

    What solidified my label of "Akatsuki is a Gary Stu." was the episode where he tamed a bike that only one person could ride in the spans of three minutes, all off screen. His shallow screwing around with the girls also didn't help at all.

    I'm not going to deny it. If the polar opposite of Akatsuki is "beta" like Rito Yuuki, I gladly take Rito. At least Rito has moments where he shows care and thoughts about others that girls see at times when he's not freaking out about the situation he's in.

    The problem with him is that he doesn't consider anyone else. Ever.

    If someone doesn't want to tell you about their personal life, don't put a spell on them that makes them do it.

    If one person is locked in the closet with you and really needs to use the bathroom, don't deliberately embarrass everyone else who is also locked in. That's Cartman logic.

    And besides that, he never seemed to have trouble doing anything. Every fight I'd ever seen him in, he might take a few hits, then he just gets up and basically says "didn't hurt lol."

    He really just rubbed me the wrong way, so he annoyed me enough so I had to stop watching. :/

    I didn't finish Dakara Boku wa H ga Dekinai because I got bored with it.

    Even still, that main character had a lot more common sense and actual respect for others than Estetica's main character.

    You can't always accurately read sarcasm over the internet. You can't sense tone of voice and some people actually believe the things they say, no matter how absurd. You have to type out what you're actually trying to say if you're trying to form an argument.

    I watched up to episode 5, about halfway through the series. I'm not sure how that's not enough to accurately get an impression of the main character, since he was given so much screen time during the whole series.

    I will not watch every single episode of an anime I don't like. I gave it a chance for 5 entire episodes, hoping the main character would become more bearable, but it never happened, so I stopped.

    Akatsuki continued to not respect anyone and never face any consequences.

    That isn't my problem, it's their writing. They should write a character that is actually likable outside of his novelty (he's not even the first manly character in an ecchi series in a while. Did you even watch Needless?) if they want fans to like their series. Clearly you liked it, but most other people got bored or annoyed with it and stopped. I won't watch something just because the main character is a change from the norm. He also has to actually be a good character.

    The examples I pointed out

    His taste is Yuuki Rito - the exact opposite of this protagonist. Seriously, reading s-n crap really does make no sense. This anime is plate shallow but all he does is case on BOSS. I guess he's one of those people who want the MC to reflect himself, & from his garbage logic I can only see him as Yuuki Rito.

    seconded. I can't say it turned out to be my favorite series, but I really enjoyed the premise nonetheless: what if an over-leveled RPG character (he DID defeat a demon lord, remember) suddenly quit the hero business and used his powers to troll chicks? Also, I honestly couldn't argue with some of the logic he uses (if I pissed myself in public, I actually would feel a bit nicer knowing that someone else was in the exact same position as me).

    Sweet argument bro, you've really convinced me. I've never seen the character in that light before. If you put it that way, he's soooo perfect and his writing is top-notch.

    Oh, and yeah, Dekinai isn't boring at all. Yep, that's totally what I think. It was a sweet assumption you made, even though you admit that I stopped watching it. And you know, I already typed made it clear that it was boring.

    Yeah and I like your incredible logic, too. "You should stop watching ecchi anime, because you didn't like a couple and I'm going to assume you can't finish any of them."

    This is a real shame. Only ARMS Corps puts out anime with 'fat sexy' gals. [I consider them 'realistic' in that women have curves and volume, not everyone has to be skinny CLAMP characters]

    Samurai Girls comes to mind, that MC was quite awesome too. ARMS needs to put more men in their shows, when it's all girls [Ikkitousen, Queen's Blade] it sux, but once a dude shows up [Hagure, Hyakka Ryouran] it takes off as something that I see as original.

    From when anime existed, the piss poor excuse where the hero has to be a whiney emo bitch and then hopefully develop into a respectable character has always been used. JESUS can't we have a character that starts out badass, gets the girls NOT BECAUSE OF RANDOM SHIT but because he has some level of charm, you know, good looking? One of my friends, she first saw this guy Ousawa and asked why most anime guys aren't as hot as him!

    Rito, Tenchi, Ranma, etc. The harem plot is so damn dull and none of the guys do anything. Dai Maou was fucking great, hero was decisive and the plot was more workable than oh, ToLoveRu... derp*

    But I'll have to surrender the fact that people want to be the MC's they like. I like the arrogant yet charming badass that is the Akatsuki Ousawa, the humble Muneakira Jubei, accidentally hilarious but well meaning Demon King, Akuto Sai. Let me love my awesome heroes that are decisive with their gals or at the very least take care of their problems through skillful use of brute force and not by accident.

    If you want to be Rito Yuuki, Keitaro Urashima, or any other pathetic excuse for a guy with a harem, it's cool ^_^ But to dislike someone who is extremely skilled and successful in his battles makes no sense to me... Ah well. Oh noes, he's as unbeatable awesome and handsome like Superman, he's totally unoriginal in anime... etc.

    Hated this show solely because of the MC...
    Every time he did anything, everything went his way, nothing ever went south, he needed to flee from female ninja maids at the beginning, what happens? he steals their underwear without moving, he seems to have a solution for everything at all times and this is really aggravating. Its like the writers wanted their teenage fantasy to become true and bam! you have this duchebag of a char thats selfish and completely untouchable and everyone seems to get a liking to him for no apparent reason.
    The only other character that I know of does this is Rance, an H game character and he's not a god, he's lucky as fuck is all and stuff doesn't always go his way. I've only played Rance 7 and there are a number of times when things really go wrong and there's nothing he can do about it.
    If we switched characters, you'd have a game where the MC is technically the same but he literary beats the last boss within the first few turns and suddenly every faction would surrender because he's just too awesome and handsome and the women of japan are a small sacrifice for peace in the country(this part is meant to be an exemplification of what it'd be like if Akatsuki was the MC of Rance 7 and is meant to be slightly sarcastic).
