Scandal seiyuu Aya Hirano “hates otaku” and is in the final stages of abandoning what remains of her seiyuu career, with even industry sources apparently not having much nice to say about her.
An anime industry source is scathing about her attitude to the creepy otaku who sustained her rise and fall:
She says she doesn’t mind being a seiyuu, but she dislikes having to be treated as an idol.
And frankly, she seems to hate otaku.
It seems pretty reprehensible for her to be saying this when it’s those otaku who support her.
According to an agency source, she is dead set on abandoning her tainted seiyuu career in favour of a glittering career as an actress:
She’s totally serious about transforming herself into an actress. She’s told her agency to refuse as much seiyuu work as possible.
The obligatory sampling of the online opinions which have done so much to determine the direction of her career reveals she is for once receiving some sympathetic treatment:

In response to the quotes, Hirano has twitted denials of both hating otaku and planning to abandon her seiyuu career, and lamented the fact that nobody believes her these days for some strange reason.

A good catch. She might be able to replace at least someone like Lucy of Fairy Tail, even if not more iconic Hirano roles.

Most seiyuu have no problem because they only fo their work and only that, they are begging for attention, they are not looking for the cameras, appearing on tv saying stupid things coming up with likes on the internet to get the attention and compassion of her "fans".
So you will se many are so very successful because the do simply their work which is voice characters, not being the celebrities themselves and appear on cameras.

She did not say she hates Otaku. Nor has she quit. And though I love her seiyuu work and hope her management keeps her in the anime loop, I see nothing wrong with her perusing an acting career. Don't forget if you're an idol/singer once you reach the ripe old elderly age of 26 Japanese men/otaku dump you and call you an old hag (and most anime characters are highschoolers) and your real only hopes at continuing your career and making money to eat dinner is in acting.
Even if Japanese guys don't like you anymore Aya because you're not a "15 year old first year student blah blah typical anime plot" and your getting older and more mature, your true Japanese, Haruhi, Konata and Overseas fans who have been with you from the start still support you and will buy multiple copies of whatever you are in!

I was mostly just listing my favs but this is about the gist... There are some that disappear after a role, some stay for few years other decades and some stay forever (like midori sato from sazae-san) :D

Whatever news I read that is about Aya Hirano, I still remain to be a fan of her. I can't imagine another seiyuu performing Suzumiya Haruhi or Konata Izumi XD

But my favorite seiyuu is still Yahagi Sayuri. After all, she's mai waifu's seiyuu.
Kugimiya is nice and all...but my personal preference is Noto Mamiko. I really love her voice.

Are you fans of Horiguchi Yukiko or Ikeda Shouko? If you don't know who they are, that's because they came up with the character designs.
You'd have to be pretty shallow to assign credits to a replaceable voice than artists whose hard work are responsible for these characters.
I happen to know 4 untrained people irl who can imitate these character's voices perfectly down to pitch and tone, though only in short bursts (one of them is a guy too, creepy, but also more impressive). Surely trained seiyuus can do it. Even if not perfectly, they can fix it via postprocessing to be indistinguishable.
Aya Hirano is just a woman who's lost direction in life and is making a wreck of herself. Worthy of sympathy, but not admiration.

Haruhi and Konata were her only roles that really stood out to me, neither of which appeared to be getting a revisit. Otherwise, I just haven't been impressed with her.
people like her are dime in a dozen. you think other seiyuu wouldn't do just as a good job if not better than her? many would kill for chances at fame like that. that woman is seriously dumb, mismanages her private life away from professional life, then throws her career away. she'll be pulling the same shit as an actress too. sure, her agent is an incompetent moron, but pulling this will get her blacklisted by the industry.
The voice for Konata is may be slightly unique, but her usual generic Haruhi voice is nothing special...even the new-comer seiyuu Mariko Nakatsu who voice Nanami in "Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo" sound very close to the "Haruhi voice". Hell, I would go as far as saying she can replace most of Aya's role without problem, since most of them were the generic Haruhi voice...
Konata's voice was awesome, but fuck deko bitch anyway lol won't miss her!
