Sadly they only have a few episodes in which they have to finish this arc. At this point, skipped scenes is inevitable.
That part would have been cool, but it's not that important other than explaining that there's a really powerful sword called Excaliber there. When it appears later on they can just drop a sentence "It's the most powerful sword!" and be done with it.

wtf! THEY DIDN'T SHOW TONKII ! THAT WAS ONE OF THE BAD ASS SCENES FROM THE LIGHT NOVEL i WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS SEASON.
Really? I didn't mind that they skipped it only because it felt like filler when i was reading it.. I just wanted this arc to be over though. Too bad they wont be animating GGO, since that made the series enjoyable again.
They'll animate it. Just not this season. SAO's selling well and they'd be insane to not do a S2.
GGO will probably run in second season, together with the ALO Excalibur Quest, and probably Toki story because Excalibur Quest depends on it. I guess they will add Mother Rosario too to the second season, as Alicization will run for 3 light novels more (5 in total) and would hardly fit in a season with anything else.
So if you don't like ALO, I hate to break the news for you, but you it will probably make half of the next season too.
ALO was ok, it had its cool moments and whatnot (i think i just wanted it to be over so i could see asuna safe not ant dragged into yet another game). mothers rosario was ok too i guess. I think the last few chapters of GGO are what i want to see the most. I just started Alicization, so idk about that yet. Don't get me wrong though, i love this series, it just has its 'meh' points, and i think ALO had alot of that. But these last few eps should be amazing.
