The majority of Japanese women think men who take their dates to the venue using a train rather than a car “deserve to be single for life,” “have no right to love” and are “abusing women,” according to a recent article – which has predictably proven highly incendiary amongst Japan’s increasingly carless men.

Frankly, making your date ride a train is abuse of women. It’s violence. A lot of idiot guys are so intent on satisfying their lust they don’t even realise this. They just want to jam themselves in a girl as cheaply as possible.

I met a girl at the station and we rode the train to the izakaya and work out alright for me. These girls sound too picky, proberly just want a guy with money.

I didn’t know Japan was so train-dependent, soundsa absurd to me. O_o I’m a 21 years old who’s been driving a car since 18 (legal age in Italy) and has almost never rode on a train.
In most parts of Japan you need to prove you have a place to park it, which in itself it expensive. Most don't have cars as cars aren't really all that convenient in the larger cities as their train/subway systems are crazy good. That was just about the only way I travelled while I was there.
Never had a car, never wanted one, dont give a shit. Oh, but i will occasionally drop bricks from my window on cars of retards who parked on walking paths. Fuck drivers.
Well, reason why Japan uses a train is because of over population on an island. There is over millions of people there on that island. Having that many people with cars on that small space is more then likely going to have traffic jams that can last up for at least an hour or more, probably without any wrecks either. Not to mention a few of their trains can go past 150+ mph I think. Makes it more convent to travel one place to another.

The Tokyo region is very densely populated while other parts of Japan are fairly sparsely populated.
The remark on parking Anon 12:17 made is something particular to the Greater Tokyo Area maybe just the Tokyo prefecture which is as densely built up as Long Island NY.
Keep in mind that if you live in Tokyo you have 37 million people in a single city, for example so, there using trains are way more logical (effective and less time consuming) than using a car, plus they're cheaper(Don't need to pay for them, don't need gas) and are faster.
Because in Italy,unfortunately,we have not yet discovered the invention of the train ...

Not true. I live near a train station in Rhode Island and the parking lot is always packed and you also see lots of locals walking there to take the train up to Boston, MA or walking back home at the end of the day. Yes, way too many people still drive cars, but I think it's a sense of the freedom you get that makes us be that way.

Go to youtube. Look up Japanese cities and rodes and watch videos of people TRYING to drive. It's crazy. I've been driving since I was 13 (farm stuff) and was always wondering until I watched a few vids. They have trouble getting around on scooters, forget cars.

Heck, per se mass transit is awesome, way better than cars. Sure, it needs to be: safe, practical in terms of distance from the stop to your destination, 24/24 (well, at least some night shifts), clean, good with time schedules, take you to the places without having much to wait, being cheap... things that the tokyoites get (at least I think it's cheap).
To be fair, nowhere in Italy we have a so crowded metropolitan area that COULD be like Paris (not even Tokyo) with subways and shit and being economically feasible.
Even most USA cities don't have those levels of density: NY city is an exception.
