Search your feelings, you know it to be true.
It's tone quite changed, but what do you expect? It's written since about twenty years now. Miura was in his mid-twenties when he started, now he is in his late forties. And the grimdark mood of the first half may something hard to hold on for such a long time, Miura might just be tired of writing about gorefests, rape and murder. I'm not saying such a royal change is necessarily a good thing, but it's kinda expected. I still like it, though. Even if it's more shounen-like right now. If at least he would update regulary, so we could progress with the story...

The little witch is the best character, by far. The author can kill off the annoying brat and the stupid elf.
I also find Schierke annoying as hell. But whatever. I just wish Miura would kill any of them (except Guts and Caska), so that everything goes dark and hellish again. It´s been a little bit "too happy" for me lately.
Why not Caska? She's out of her mind anyway and would otherwise just get in the way of the romance of guts and the little witch.

Besides, she is too young for Guts. It´s more like a father-daughter relationship.

Schierke crushing over Guts is understandable seeing that little girls do crush over older men. They will get over this 'puppy love' eventually.
Now, I'm curious about Caska regaining sanity, but knowing Berserk, she probably will become another kind of insane when the traumatic memories start coming back.
Looks pretty awesome to me.
No movie or series of movies is going to replace the manga for detail and depth. But for what it is it looks great!
I only wish Kentaro Miura would get his shit back together and start putting out chapters on a regular basis. It's the eternal waiting around that's making this latest arc suck so bad.
