I don't think A Certain Scientific Railgun needs to be on this list it's fairly memorably.
not to mention that the Railgun anime is already over 2 years old and obviously people (even it's haters) remember it just fine.
Because they didn't include the plot. It was Kuroko and random shit happening. I look forward to the plot actually showing up eventually.
I'll always remember the characters! Mostly because I watched Index. But Railgun-anime... what was that about again? I faintly remember hating on it, but I'm not sure why...
I liked it, but in all seriousness, I can barely remember the plot...
Index was a little more memorable imho.
More importantly, its getting another series so of course people will still remember it.

i agree, i watched the series to try to get what was all the hype about, and while i didn't found it horrible, i didn't found it memorable either. there are
quite a few animes that came out and are much better than Madoka.

Better than Madoka... hm... I think most anime fit the bill, since it was so horrible, but let's go with,.. I don't know.. Angel Beats? Golgo13? Gallery Fake? Minverva no Kenshi? Yeah, all of those. Also Air Master and of course Darker Than Black, Ookami to Koushinryou and Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko.
It's just not the same as when it was airing, and the otaku world was taken by storm by one little moment of cheap shock value.
Now that the show's done and it's reputation is out, the "hype" won't be as strong.
Except that's exactly what Madoka *didn't* do...
Recent animes too focused on the moe and ecchi aspect. Not that i against it. But even too much porn can kill the excitement. Plus ecchi leads to a blinding ray of light which defeat the point.
So, yeah, anime that actually have something to think about are bad, right?
I'd love the see the list of pre-chewed, regurgitated pablum that you consider better.

Considering all the lists on Sankaku that never have any anime older than the last season on them and the short shrifting of the true anime classics I'd say ALL series will be forgotten in a few years.

Do you know Gunsmith Cats too? If not, you should check it out. When I saw the Black Lagoon anime I thought "awesome! This is like Gunsmith Cats at sea!" - though it's not so much about pirates, as legal bounty hunters, also going after ridiculous over the top villains.
I know Gunsmith Cats. It's boring shit compared to Black Lagoon with moe moe girls and guns. And grenades. And explosion. But there isn't that "if you run away I just shoot you in the back" or "I don't care for your life, just die already".
your point is not very well based. while i agree on the short memory of otakus, if what you say was true Evangelion wouldn't be there in many lists, the ones that don't talk about hype, as well as FMA and GITS amongst others. and what to say wehn they list anime characters and we still see Fujiko around?

the best animes get the most hate cuz of haters. To be expected. SAO will be a anime that will be remembered for a long time.
Just like .hack//SIGN is, maybe not by the mainstream but they forget about every serie anyway thats not naruto, bleach, onepiece, toriko etc.

Madoka, K-ON! and Angel Beats will not be forgotten anytime soon, mostly because of the fans more so than how good the anime on it's own.
The rest of those shows aren't so lucky.

FMP Fan here. Read the novel. Now I don't really want a new season anymore.
I wont forget any of them but I dont go around talking about anime either or voting for them in poles so I guess that is kinda what fans would consider forgetting them.
I am a FMP fan and i am still here, waiting anxiously for a new project.

Don't forget about Binbougami-Ga. Although it was good, a lot of the comedy involved references to other anime, and the people taking these surveys only have short-term memory...

Sadly, quite true since it lasts for a handful of episodes only. The impact is very minimal compared to long-running series like Gintama, Kochikame or Sazae-san.
Thank goodness the manga is still running.
