MadoHomu Yuri Nuzzle Film Fetches $13,500

A tiny strip of film from the new OP to the Puella Magi Madoka Magica movie edition has fetched ¥1,081,001 at auction – for reasons which are not hard to fathom, as it shows the already much cherished Madoka-Homura OP nuzzle.
The random film reel snips, given to movie-going otaku with the right tickets, form a lottery of sorts, with some unlucky souls cursed with snatches of wall, blank screen, or even QB.
Others however – such as the lucky starter of this auction – got film worth rather more than its weight in gold:
As was widely predicted, the film surpassed the ¥1,000,000 mark, proving the ultimate in collectibles for Madocchi-x-HomuHomu fans – though some have unsportingly pondered whether the entire reel could not have been had for less…

Consider the baseball card example again. I see a rare card at a garage sail but don't buy it. That's because it's worth nothing to me. A collector finds it after I do and pays several hundred for it. That's because it's worth that much to him.

Not to denigrate what Madoka accomplished, but those of us who grew up with Evangelion and other shows that have done similar honestly don't need to 'get it.' Madoka's wonderful, and not 'over-rated' as is the other extreme, but as usual with fandom, anyone who says 'you just don't get it' comes off as an insufferable waste of time and is a major reason the experience gets ruined for everyone else.
People SHOULD enjoy the show, however not feel the need to cram it down throats as the end-all-be-all of cinematic perfection, because anyone in their right mind knows it was a good ride, and doesn't need to be made into more. Fans ruin good shows for other potential fans, not the shows themselves. Look at My Little Pony. Even realizing this, I still avoid watching it because of the morons it produces.
As is always the case, the reality lies between the two extremes. Someone just felt the worth of that strip went into that level, and if they're collectors, and protect them, then it's also a good investment.

Whether that is the case or not, the point still remains that using generic blow-off statements to counter generic blow-off statements only creates more dichotomy of fandom. The people who hate shows hate them because of the people who love them to fan-aticism in every case I have ever seen in my life. Many times they're not even aware of it.
"You just don't get it" and "perhaps it's not a show for you" are an example of how one statement can kill a person's relationship with a show, while the other comes from a place of accepting someone's choice to look or not. And any psychologist can tell you that the latter statement actually has a strong potential to have that person give the show a shot.

If you ever see the Hollywood Collector's shows, it's rather remarkable what some people attach value to over the span of a few decades. This may actually be the only official footage of Madoka that even remotely shows their relationship to be more than soldierly without as much ambiguity. I still personally feel that having them be full-on yuri takes away from their relationship rather than makes it more, but whatever the case, it is a very rare moment in the official story.
