Evangelion fans have been greeting the first trailer of the upcoming “Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo” (or “Evangelion: Q”) movie with no small enthusiasm, promising as it does plenty of quality cinematic action and gratuitous Asuka service.

I never watch Eva so is the movie just retelling of the series or there is new story? like this version Asuka have eyepatch and the other version didn't have it.

It's definitely not a retelling. The ending of the 2.0 movie completely flies off the rails of the series (and there were subtle and not-so-subtle differences between the original and the Rebuild movies in both films leading up to that).
The ending isn't really that far removed from the TV series. They executed it differently, but they more or less combined eva eating zeruel, Shinji merging with eva, and kaoru's appearance into one scene (and possibly rei's sacrifice/death as well if she doesn't get recovered). Once Shinji is recovered from eva, he will more or less be in the same place as he was in the TV series around ep 20ish?

Milking it? The original series aired more than 15 years ago; it looks dated as fuck. I'm personally glad that they've redone a classic series with modern technology.
And yes, graphics are a big deal when what you're watching is essentially a series of pictures.

Seriously I would say they took lessons in merchandising from Lucas, but I think they started with the propaganda merchandise a year before the first episode ever aired. Those guys make Lucas look like an amateur.

They were never going to remake it, it was already finished, but from what I read, they got a bunch of hate mail about the ending, and were forced to remake.
Imagine if Miyazaki re-did Nausicaa throughout his entire career? Or Akira Kurosawa remaking Seven Samurai over and over again? If a work is successful it should be left alone and its maker move on to different things, not try fixing what isn't broke.
Although I did like the films somewhat, with the Anno team's ahem, "talents", I would have liked to see them work on brand new things instead and not waste their time and creative energy on something that was essentially complete a decade ago even imperfectly as it were. I remember Sadistmoto drawing those stills years ago about a genderbent Asuka and Shinji in some fantasy setting. Why couldn't they follow up on that idea with a new anime series? That way they could have tied the past franchises together without having to re-imagine the same environments.
Yes and no... The story in EVA is such that it can redo itself over without actually redoing itself...at least as far as the plot goes. And the stuff in 2.0 already made it clear that this is another one of the recreations of the world.

In one sense, yes. Gainax has been milking Eva ever since it was first created, and a cynic would see these movies as no different.
In another sense, no. While the basic premise is well agreed on, Hideaki and Sadamoto had rather different takes on the plot progression. Anno's vision prevailed in the original TV series, while Sadamoto's came out in the manga. The movies are a refined take on everything, with Anno fixing things he felt weren't done well originally, and without the technical and budgetary limitations of a mid-90's TV show (and perhaps without some of the psychological baggage he was carrying around at the time the TV show was made).
i guess people can't comprehend and are not comfortable with the idea of an artist working something to the death for his own purposes or because he has to.
If you guys think it's "milking" just don't pay for it, not like you guys ever paid for anime anyway you pirates.
