MikuMiku Ita-Yakisoba Truly Painful

The arrival of Hatsune Miku themed negi noodles on Akiba’s streets, dyed a suitably unappetising shade of green and hawked by a Miku-cosplayer, is once again reminding all just why otaku culinary creations are renowned for their ghastliness rather than their palatability.

The dish in question is “negishio ita-yakisoba,” based on an actual dish (negishio yakisoba, salty fried noodles with scallions) but with the addition of garish colouring, and being sold on the streets of Akihabara in aid of a nearby “cosplay izakaya”:

There is not much approval of the dish amongst its target audience:

“That is not a colour for food!”

“It does not look good for you.”

“Truly grotesque.”

“Oh god, even the meat is coloured…”

“Gross!”

“¥700…”

“Enjoy your cancer.”

“It certainly does not look good  for you.”

“Looking at your vomit after throwing this up is likely to be even more disgusting than usual.”

“Gross, expensive, and the girl is ugly. Who’d buy this!”

“Maybe you can get away with this in America, but not here.”

“Factory effluent green is not an appropriate colour for food.”

On an even more unsavoury note, one otaku gourmand advises diners to check the colour of their droppings as they will likely be dyed a similar colour…
