da fak? no Megumi Hayashibara?, you kids disapoint me!
i mean seriously, Lina Inverse, Pyokola, Rei Ayanami, Faye Valentine, Lime, Ranma (girl).
nobody?
And which of those have been relevant in the past 10 years? That's like complaining that Arnold Schwarzenegger isn't at the top of the popularity list anymore: he was one of the biggest stars in the world at one point, but that time has passed.
Now if only the seiyuu/anime industry is more like Hollywood, then we might get an Expendables-like movie bringing back all those old seiyuus together, and it might actually sell.
...nah, let's just stick to our moeblobs starring the latest cute young thing who has to keep their private life a secret so otaku can fantasize about them as their waifus
Yea, gotta agree. Megumi Hayashibara, is definitely a great, this list looks to be of current Seiyuu. Even Maaya Sakamoto is low on the list.
Sorry but the Eva fans are still beating their meat to Evangellion while releasing even more cabbage.
There's even another moving coming out next month: Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo.
So yeah, still relevant.
I agree with you on this. Polls are always a reflection of "what have you done (for me) lately?" And with the great Megumi Hayashibara, the answer is "not much".
Just checked Megumi's IMDB page, and she's done several roles in 2012. She's still in the long-running Detective Conan anime, and Pokemon :D
I would love-love-LOVE more Slayers! <3
Maybe if we get another new Slayers season that reaches up to battling Luke, She'll be on that list again!
Maybe...
Wise words sir.
Well, there have been Slayers and Evangelion sequels within the last five years, and there was that Ranma special awhile back... but in general, I agree. Hayashibara's last starring role in a non-sequel/remake anime was in Cheeky Angel, which began in Spring 2002.
Megumi has outstandings songs, and her works as the voices of ranma, lina, lime, just superb.
And Paprika!
I've been wondering about this for some time now. Why hasn't Megumi Hayashibara been active after after 2002?
She's still in Pokémon pretty much every week :|
Cost, simple as that its fairly cheaper to create a new "star" seiyu and pay them less and bind them to a contract.
Nice rose-colored shades you got there. Seriously, what has Hayashibara done of note lately? Isn't it JUST her recurring roles as Musashi in Pokemon and Haibara in Detective Conan?
I mean, I like her, and she was my favorite seiyuu maybe 10 years ago, but now she's just a kids' anime seiyuu, not the type to be on a list by otaku who actually care about seiyuu.
She got married and had a kid. I assume she doesn't have nearly enough time to dedicate to voice acting as she used to. I mean, she was probably in around 70% of all anime released between 1994-2002.
And honestly, I got a little sick of hearing her in EVERYTHING.
On top of that, where is Aya Hisakawa and Kikuko Inoue on the list?
Seriously...
Yeah, Hayashibara's my favorite, but... I'm old. Even stuff like Eva is classic now.
No Hayashibara, no Inoue Kikuko, Midorikawa Hikaru, Yamaguchi Kappei, Furukawa Toshio, etc... But if they're more than 5 years out of date, you can't expect people to know them anyway. Anime is like a phase most people go through and the old ones usually get out of it.
These days I admit I only really know Tomokazu Sugita, Rie Kugimiya and Romi Paku. And yeah, I totally just switched family name order. Deal with it.
Too bad this doesn't have any English voice acters. STEVE BLUM! I'm also surprised Aya Hirano didn't manage to make it up here although I guess I shouldn't be considering all the dumb shit that she has done.
He's going to do despicable things to get on that list, but I'll understand because Amon's gotta do what Amon's gotta do.
Nah, these Seiyuu are way better than her!
she's inactive, the only anime she has a role this year is the upcoming "Smile Precure!" Movie, that's all....
NOT TRUE! She has Ai Haibara, the best female character ever.
At least until the next Evangelion movie gets put into production, that is.
Or are hey using a different seiyuu for that?
True. So why the hell didn't they have her up there somewhere? I'd say Ms. Hayashibara still has a rabid fanclub out there (I'm one, of course).
Nope, that's Megumi for sure. No one can voice Rei better than her.
Fuckin exactly what I was thinking.
Well, this is more current then "all-time", so it's not weird.
Same as the Norio Wakamoto case down below, She only got 1 job for 2012, 1 job for 2011, and 2 jobs for 2010.
Can't blame the crowd if they don't care about her anymore.
No Norio Wakamoto?
Don't tell me this men's list is full of pretty-boys instead...
He doesn't need to be in the list... he's on another level of Godly seiyuunism!!!!! XD
He's on the Top 2 list since there has to be one from each gender.
The only list with one spot, one ranking, one name and eternal greatness. NORIO WAKAMOTO. 'Nuff said.
I was disappointed as well. The guy has an incredible voice.
tbf, I don't recall him being in any anime the last couple seasons and anime fans have a horrible memory...
Mirai Nikki is the most recent one I can remember.
Wakamoto voiced Deus in Mirai Nikki.
Dog days S2, sort of... Only like a few lines though iirc.
I looked through the list twice to see if I could find him, disappointed...
Noto Mamiko has the most gentle voice in the industry and one of the most distinguishable...
So I get Yuu Kobayashi all the myself then.
Megumi Hayashibara FTW.
You are so right =D
yep, any Seiyuu list without Megumi Hayashibara is just wrong
I have no idea who any of these people are...
I'm very happy that the KURONEKO seiyuu is at first place ! Hard work must be awarded ! ^^
the lack of Youko Hikasa is disturbing......
Damn!
Where is Joji Nakata and Shizuka Itou!
Nakamura 9th? wat
I am very happy to see Yui Horie is still in the Top 10. She is starting to get quite old on this young list.
But how about 2 of my favorites who are missing
Yū Kobayashi
Miyuki Sawashiro
