Sword Art Online Ending “Worst Ever”

Sword Art Online fans have been angrily condemning the game’s finale as “idiotic,” “a total farce,”and “making no sense whatsoever” – none of which is helped by the fact the series is only half finished, with the “Fairy Dance” arc continuing events next week.
Most of the complaints stem from apparent huge continuity problems and a reliance on the power of sudden miracles rather than on coherent storytelling:

Immortal object, changed into..... Immortal Object, now Immortal object which was Immortal was be defeated, it wasn't on purpose was it? it would think it's supposed to be "Mortal Object" but someone copy pasted wrong text from google translate
Very stupid typo for a well-known anime studio.
"Chaged into Immortal Object" -> There are 2 typo in this sentence
>Japanese, trying to speak English
always worth a laugh or two
It's all fine till they start throwing around German like nobodies business...
It changed from purple/blue immortal object to red immortal object. So red could like negate that or something. yea? I mean duh!
Man, this aint Ikaruga.
that game more stressful than geometry wars. . .
I see where the whole "Red means Negated" can be a touch accurate.
I've seen games that actually color a single part of the UI red to signify something was either negated (like someone's armor breaking caused that icon to redden), killed (common in RPGs I played--the character who dies has a blood-red appearance on their HP bar), or simply to signify that the element is the cancel button (mainly in kiddie games).
In essence, changing in this fashion rendered the Immortal Object mortal.
Still no excuse for printing it confusingly, on top of daring to mispell "changed".
I can't wait til Sugou stabs Asuna with his "immoral object". Kirito is so going to get NTRed.
Well, Kirito's already done that (chapter 16.5 ;D)
I laughed so hard at that. No one gives a fuck about this anime, even the people working on it.
ITS JUST A GAME.
In the end, we are just smelly dying losers.
Insert Coin.
Yet you took the time to read a post regarding "this anime" so you gave a fuck. Therefore, your comment is invalid.
@22:14 - LOL Attention seeker.
Immortal Objects die if they are killed.
Especially if they were chaged.
LOL! He is an immortal object. To be mortal, he should set his stats to immortal again to be mortal.
It's like -1 * -1 = 1 or the logical ¬(¬A) = A.
So that's the application of math in real life O.o Well, it applies since he's a GM.
Now convert this into a Meme...
LOL that makes me laugh so hard
I disliked the episode unlike many others who claim who did enjoy it. There were way to many plot/scenes holes in this episode and the series as a whole that it just felt way too rushed and not enough content of the people actually clearing the floors and character developments. In the end they tried to fit everything in the first 14 episodes which would honestly be anywhere from 25-50 episodes if the author and anime studios worked on more content and didnt rush.
I also agree. This episode was incredibly rushed. The fight seen with the boss was basically skipped, and the things Kirito thought after the fight and while fighting Heathcluff was very important. It is sad to see how rushed the anime is. That episode specifically was poorly executed in my opinion. With more time, I think SAO would have been amazing. After the fight seen with GleamEyes and Kirito's original fight with Heathcliff, I was expecting an outstanding fight scene for the floor 75 boss and Heathcliff
I hate to say this but...everybody is stupid. Loved the episode actually. Sword Art Online is 25 Episodes, idiots. Who ever heard a Anime ending at episode 14...is seriously stupid.
Considering that people don't buy ****, Anime Fans are responsible for why Anime ends at 13 episode seasons more than creators and Anime Studios.
You're right about this particular anime still having a ways to go but re: the 14 episodes… Haruhi was 14 episodes, and it worked out okay.
Having said that, I wouldn't consider this an especially good episode, or this an especially good series.
Honestly, if people think this is over, then you're all fucking stupid. First off, you still got 11 more episodes. Second, there's like 4 more worlds to go to. You can't just call this an ending.
You're dumb. They could've done this first arc in the 25 episodes and ended it there and started up again in another season. Instead, they rushed through this arc in 14 episodes and continue another one only to be finished in 11. It's not that matter of it being "finished", it's the way they finished it.
No more money means its over, that may be why the rush.
They should've done the anime in 25 episode for each World; 1 World for each season. Only way to make a story like this work properly. They obviously rushed it but who knows, not enough fan base growth or appreciation and or budget to spend on the anime to make a proper story board plan for the anime adaptation. Whole point, didn't work out, Get over it.
Jozle: Dude, the first world is over, and that's what matters.
DERP.
>> First off, you still got 11 more episodes. Second, there's like 4 more worlds to go to.
If you thought the first one was rushed..
In fact the original novel is even more rushed at certain points. It mostly covers the beginning and the end of the game, covering the rest on short stories (some of them included in the anime) on later compilation novels. Even so, the anime is much too rushed in almost all chapters and the first two and this "ending" are in fact the better part as an adaptation.
The novel wasn't really that rushed, this SAO part is just the begining of the story and not the end not the middle even.
A lot of possible explonations popsup after you read later arcs for the events for this as well.
But for those who truly want more SAO there is a new novel series releasing who will just be about SAO and nothing else.
That novel is called Sword Art Online Progressive and first vol is released on wensday.
Exactly what i would expect of the author who created Accel World. Both suck especially accel world.
Last I remembered, Vol 1 was supposed to be a stand alone novel which explains the jump to floor 74. But the novel proved to be too popular so the author made others. Hell, it wasnt even supposed to be a novel as it was originally up for free online!
The anime is following the novel exactly. The reason why the novel has such a rushed ending is because this is a award winning title for a writing competition in Japan, which limits each title to have only one volume maximum (w certain cap on the letters count as well). That's why the story has to end in one single book, in fact, the anime has already combined both the side stories (2nd book) and the main story (first book) together, so you guys are actually watching the more complete version of the first game world (SAO), be glad~
I kind of liked it until the moment he used 'miracle' to win.
Cline using the item on Kirito would have been a genius move. It would also shows that the dude is a good guild leader too, considering how long that thing would have stayed in his inventory.
The funny thing is, Kirito actually had gotten a RESURRECTION ITEM earlier and given it to his bro, with the instruction "Use this on the next person you see who dies." But we never actually saw the item get used.
So... they could have very easily *explained* Kirito's continuing to fight after dying. He could have been revived by headband guy, and then taken Heathcliff by surprise and killed him. Except... the writers forgot about it.
heh, or he just forgot about it :p
i totally agree with u, the artwork and music are pretty good. But they've rushed it too much. I've read the light novels and think that at some parts they should explain more rather than just go past it. Hopefully their BD will change sth.
yup, agreed. i thought the whole season would be SAO arc only and the other arc would be season 2 or whatsoever.
Volume 1 was episodes 1, 8-11 (only until OP) and 13-14 (yes, the fishing filler was in original, from what I remember). Yes, they did skip stuff but what really ticked me off was how they rewrote their first bed scene so that it's not outright obvious they did it (not that the novel version wasn't already shizo probably due to shit editing). Anyway, if they avoided all the volume 2 (except maybe Yui part) and more so volume 8 short story, they could have done an uncompressed adaptation in 12-13 episodes with space to spare and nothing of value would be lost. And if they ended with them fading away not awakening (no, I won't spoil it yet), it would be just perfect. End.
IDIOT.. IT'S NOT THE END.. STILL 11 EPISODES LEFT.. THAT'S WHY U SHOULD WATCH THE ED THEME SONG TILL LAST *SRSLY* (14/25)
Actually you're the idiot, actual TV runs are NEVER 14 episodes long. They're always divided into 6, 13 and 26 episode runs (not counting indefinite run programming like the big 3). And depending on national holidays, natural disasters, etc air with 1 or 2 episodes less. They NEVER air with one additional episode. Any additional episodes like that would be released with the dvd/bd as an OVA episode.
The opening header was a troll header and you got trolled. Therefore you're an idiot.
"not really, there are also tv series wit 11 and 24 episodes. so , get your fact straights before being trashcan"
Actually I stated they may air with 1 or 2 episodes less, idiot. Apparently not only are you an idiot, you cannot read either.
"And depending on national holidays, natural disasters, etc air with 1 or 2 episodes less."
SEE THAT!! What, you can't read, subtract or are you just one of those idiots who spouts off the moment someone corrects them? Like I said, you're an idiot. You should kill yourself already.
and what about kokoro connect? it has 17 eps
"and what about kokoro connect? it has 17 eps"
The last 4 episodes are OVA releases, thou they follow TV runtime. Check wiki. Just like Oreimo reatured 4 TV runtime ONA episodes.
Also covered under my original reply as well. "Any additional episodes like that would be released with the dvd/bd [release] as an OVA episode."
Well at the end of this episode, they show the title of the next episode. So... that's pretty definitive.
"There are shows that have 14, 12, 11, 8, 22, ect. episodes so you can't say they always have a certain amount of episodes."
There's 52 weeks in a year, slice that into quarters and you have 13 weeks in each quarter. Anime airs in quarters, thus the average TV series runs 13, 26 & 52 episodes in length.
Any series with an episode or two more in content has that content released is a separate OVA episode. Since the change to digital animation, virtually every TV series has followed that format and even before that most did as well.
There are few exceptions, like shows that got cancelled prematurely, like Gundam 0079 & SDF Macross. But it's rare for a show to get cancelled like that, in the digital age.
And, as stated before running a TV run it is not uncommon for a series to be 11/12 & 24/25 episodes in length due to sports events, natural disasters & national holidays. Rarely will a show become so effected by these events to the point they are 10 & 23 episodes in length. Mitsudomoe S2 would be a good example of a 10 episode series run. But 22/23, have fun finding a recent one.
There are shows that have 14, 12, 11, 8, 22, ect. episodes so you can't say they always have a certain amount of episodes.
You're the idiot
not really, there are also tv series wit 11 and 24 episodes.
so , get your fact straights before being trashcan
Yo dawg, I heard you like Immortal Objects. So I changed your Immortal Object to a Immortal Object in order to cancel the Immortal Object to get yourself killed. >.>
He changed Asuna into an Immortal object, if you are talking about the 18th image that is.
No, he didn't. If he had, he wouldn't have been able to slice her.
It's a typo by the animators. I should have been "Changed to Mortal Object", but the animators English skills weren't up to it, and no one caught it in post-production.
Yea how do you explain her not dying then.
The colour changed, maybe orange means off and purple means on?
I think they were showing the thing in red showing that he was no longer changed into an Imortal Object. Since Imortal Object always were in a light green box or so.
Either way it boils down to either being terrible design or a typo.
They can do reason "Kayaba is the one who did that typo as the game designer, not us"
ye, actually it is absolutely natural for a MMORPG do have plenty of typos, especially when nobody is working to fix them :P
He made his sword immortal so it couldn't be broken. I was at first confused as well but after rewinding it made sense. Scumbag creator though.
Shiro would be proud.
Changed was spelt wrong too.
I like how i made so many typos writing that, i blame staying up until morning to play torchlight 2
He just XOR'ed immortality status on self and GUI team was lazy to check the resulting status for message.
Better change that in the Bluray
