The pathos of one of the victims of the latest typhoon to molest Japan has struck both itasha and Clannad fans alike.
Taifuu 17 is currently poised to sweep across the length of Japan, but it is the tragic damage it has already wrought in Okinawa which has caught the eyes of otaku online:
According to reports of the accident, the car (a “kei” or “light” model) was blown over by strong winds as it drove through central Naha, injuring its two female occupants.
Aside from surprise at finding an itasha owned by a female, the irony of poor Fuuko being subject to such an accident has also been commented on.

Fuuko-chan, in Kanji: 風子 = Child of Wind
That's why =.=
Anon 20:26, I salute you.
Because is fuko agree
Sir, you are a genius.
I've usually seen it rendered as "Maiden of the Wind" (though it could go either way).
Props for thinking of that.
"the latest typhoon to MOLEST Japan" - Japan, please show the courtroom exactly where the typhoon touched you.
If you kindly forgive my rudeness, and victims aside, an itasha upside down looks really hilarious.
Noooo, Yumemi! Why can't you ever have a happy ending!? ;_;
The wind has nothing to do with it
BAD END

STAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-R FISHU!
At least it fared better than Mio's car after the tsunami.
well at least it looks to have fared better then the Kagamiku car did.
Poor car =( It was one hell of a typhoon though, lost power for 24hrs so no sankaku >.<
you all should find the video of the other car flying across the parking lot, now that was crazyness!
They're lucky it's not Nagisa on the outside. They would be dead.
And yet Another Person Failed the "Tokyo Drift".
Good Typhone, destroy the moe non-believers!
Having worked at a driving instruction school for 5 years I can state without any doubt what do ever that the car flipped over due to an asian woman driving it not due to the wind. She very likely immediately blamed wind to mask the actual issue or someone else might have mentioned it was slightly windy out and she latched on to that as an excuse but in reality it had no impact on anything.
this is a brand new meaning of pain behind the name of Itasha...
but again fear not as Pain is strength...
right...
ITASHA WA TSUYOSA!!!!
fitting drama-ending for a drama anime
Women driving itasha? Wait what?
Nooooo! Not the Keymobile!
It's a toyota, They're built against all natural disasters
NOOOO!!!
NOT MY CLANNAD!!!
At least the car got a better ending >_>
Aww, Fu-chan just can't get a break, can she...
looks ok to me little work and it will be running again with no problem. it will take some money though.
Just needs to have the roof straightened the hood, windshield, and rear glass replaced.
Probably had an airbag or 2 go off so that and related sensors need replacing.
That's with the cheaper labor of the US. In Japan its about twice of what it is here to repair body damage.
So most likely looking at 15-25 hours of labor time thats 675-1125 on average for the US rates. add in about double that in replacement parts and paint and its about a 8k repair.
In japan it would be the yen equivalent of 15k because parts and labor are more expensive.
Rest in peace... Fu-chan..
btw its not very surprising that girls like CLANNAD
Fu-chan has already been in one traffic accident. give her a break typhoon.
I knew Japanese cars were pretty compact and delicate, but getting swept off by wind is really something else. Wouldn't feel very safe driving something like that...
The models they make for domestic consumption and those that are made for export are very different.
Aside from the obvious fact that they drive on the opposite side of the street compared to most countries, their domestic cars are also more narrow, so they have smaller bases. Some of the streets in japan in residentialish areas are really narrow so it makes sense.
Wait, Japan drives on the right-lane? I didn't know that :o
Yes and no.
As the article pointed out, it's a Keijidousha, a "light car":
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kei_car
While these are popular for their cheap tax and insurance rates and obvious practicality, all the normal sized "export" models are also available in Japan.
Japanese domestics also have less metal due to differences in safety standards.
It's a kei car you redneck. Kei cars are much smaller than the typical compact.
this car has OWNED written all over it
I hope Fuu-chan is okay
I don't find it strange that such a car can be flipped over like this. Especially that I saw reports in local news that even a medium-sized truck has been flipped on its side at the same place the typhoon struck. An itasha that weighs much less than that is not a problem given the wind speed of Jelawat at that time.
Read this: (the name of that "Taifun 17" is referred in this news report as "Typhoon Jelawat") http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/afp_asiapacific/view/1228672/1/.html
Bad ending unlocked!
it's the good ending, because not everyone was killed
I wouldn't be surprised if there were other kei-cars got flipped too.
I wouldn't be surprised if flipping kei-cars was considered a pass-time for gangs of high schoolers!
must flip cars!

A girl was driving it. Don't blame the wind!
To take it even further, and ASIAN girl was driving. That's a dangerous combination.
fuck you asshole, being asian has nothing to do with and
And what? Tell me please!
Sees no other flipped cars. driver error.
And what? Tell me please!
ahhh it's not a good idea to reinforce stereotype
...Not as dangerous as the Women in the US who yap away on their cellphone while driving.
