Toei Precure Dakimakura: “First Creepy Otaku, Now Furries!”

Already renowned for cultivating an audience of creepy old otaku “big friends” alongside its primary demographic of 6-year-old girls with Precure, Toei now looks to have set its sights on furry fandom – their latest offering being a full on furry dakimakura featuring Wolfrun.
The product causing all the fuss is a “long pillow” featuring Smile Precure!’s wolfy villain Wolfrun, with pre-orders opening through Toei’s official online shop at the start of October:
That the pillow is implicitly aimed at kemono-fancying fujoshi and otaku is not in much doubt – other Precure dakimakura are released in kiddie sizes, but Wolfrun is “long,” and also boasts an as yet unrevealed second side on the rear…

Wolfrun has more artwork (and of higher average quality) then many of the actual cures.
Yeah, Nao pretty much kicks his ass in Pixiv as she has more artworks than him, though Yayoi is still the most popular Cure there and has the most artworks. Also, Nissan Combination (NaoxAkane) is the most popular SPC couple in the same site, beating MiyukixWolfrun in fanarts by a wide margin. Nissan Combi FTW!
Don't forget that Nao has the most pairings/shippings in the fandom. She is paired with Akane, Reika, her other fellow Cures (both in Smile and other PreCure), young Majorina, and even background characters. Heck, she even gets paired with Miyuki's hot mom!

not true. In regards to non-yuri, I also see a fair amount of Yayoi/Akaoni. Reika/Joker's also pretty popular (that awesome, split-second hair-licking scene no doubt had something to do with it).
Orig anon here, I meant miyuki pairings. Aside from wolfrun and a peterpan dakimakura there aren't really any non yuri ones.
Actually I'm a fujoshi and having wolfrun there makes things somewhat enjoyable besides all the pretty girls around 8'D

News trashing Precure is exactly what sancom sheeple don't need. It's a validly good show that happens to have older fans aside from its main target audience like MLP.
Older fans are fine, it's when people start having unhealthy fantasies regarding their favorite show, that is where the line must be drawn.
I mean, shit, I used to have a pretty damn good friend for 5+ years. He turned into a brony and it was all fine and good until he started to believe that he's Rainbow Dash or some shit, having imaginary intercourse with whatever other pony and having autistic, pony-centric talks with people around him, me (non-brony) included.
Precure and MLP are validly good shows, I agree, but certain groups of fans of these shows are really, really creepy and probably not in full mental health. Besides, furries always come along and ruin everything. So there.

Otaku who trash Precure fans are like gamers who trash Nintendo fans because they aren't "hardcore" enough. They are segmenting and hurting their own fandom, because they are a part of the same fandom. Plus, it makes them look petty.
As for MLP, many MLP fans are anime fans. (There are AMV artists who now make MLP-themed AMVs, most MLP-cosplayers previously cosplayed as anime characters, etc.) So, anime fans who trash MLP fans are segmenting and hurting their own fandom. Plus, it makes them look petty.

I'm no MLP fan. I'm a huge precure fan but fandom aside, we should try to be more tolerant of all the different parts of our fandom.
Eh, as usual it's not that certain demographics like something aimed at other demographics. It's just when certain members of said demographics have the reasoning faculties of a boiled cabbage and are unable to recognize when their fandom goes from 'enthusiastic' to 'in your face.'
At Iron Editor panel at Otakon, they made MLP the secret footage... and also an AMV that was quite wonderful won, but won because of MLP. Unfortunately when they showed that it won, in the back of the room, a guy with no singing ability or volume control began singing along terribly with the song. And he sung the whole thing... badly... laughing at nothing the entire time...
