Saint Young Men Anime Announced

Highly popular holy men manga Saint Young Men (“SaintOnii-san”), a slice of life comedy which follows the lives of Jesus Christ and the Buddha as they pursue an impoverished bachelor lifestyle in Tokyo’s otherwise gloriously futuristic Tachikawa city, is finally to receive a full anime adaptation.

The anime will take the form of an OAD episode accompanying volume 8 of the manga in December, to be followed by a feature film at an undetermined later date.

The anime is to be produced by A-1 Pictures and directed by Noriko Takao, whose previous involvement with Kyoto Animation and such classics as Haruhi, Clannad and K-ON! tends to suggest a quality product is in the offing, although this would apparently be Takao’s first major directorship.
