I remember when Gamecube had the capability of allowing people to play with Gameboy Advance connected to it.
Using an additional screen to augment to the game what you are seeing on your TV/Monitor was such a fucking stupid idea, developers didn't know what to do with it. So you're left with FF:CrystalChronicles and maybe a Pokemon game or two using it.
Developers didn't bother touching it because not everyone had a GBA + connector, not because it was a stupid idea.
Because it came too late on the gamecube that's another reason. I can totally see DQX using it as a sort of Menu controller for diff options. I can also see the Vita doing it's own thing with the PS3 for new MMOs.

That's because the additional screen was optional, think about the Nintendo DS, you'd DEFINITELY have the second screen, developers can do much more, like in the DS.
+ Nintendo did say they would have sore of 3DS to WiiU connectivity in the future. Wonder how that'll go.
And to top it off, look at every dual screen game on the Nintendo DS. You never need more than one screen.
Derp Durr Hurr! When you're playing above ground your characters appear on the top screen, but when you go underground, the game goes onto the bottom screen. Brilliant game design.
I don't get the impression that you actually have a DS.
The problem with that was that you needed AND a GBA AND the Gamecube AND the appropriate games. This thing you get with the system, and there's already quite a lot of interesting stuff coming for it (ZombiU as the main point). So yeah, different times.
THe problem is you need a WiiU AND WiiU GAMEPAD, AND games that actually use the system.
Yeah, all of those come included when you buy the console (surprising isn't it?)

These are no improvements in quality over what we've been playing for the last 6 years on the 360 and PS3; the only difference is the touch-pad. Unless you happen to love Nintendo's exclusive franchises, this whole thing seems like a bad deal, especially when gamers on a budget may want to start saving for a PS4 or 720.
There are no improvements because they are mostly PS3/360 games. Devs aren't going to spend millions to remake them for the Wii U. That is what a port is for.
Dumbass these are ports, and the ports aren't even done by the original studios. If you have seen any of the exclusive titles first hand you would know the quality is way better.
Watch Microsoft and Sony achieve the same shit by just allowing a tablet to connect to the console.

on microsoft's e3 they did show that later on you can connect mostly any android, apple and windows tablet devices to the xbox 360, and even showed how it would be used in game, and during movie playback. It's not 100% like the wii u, but it's a start.

Nintendo has had console hardware that lagged behind it's competitors in raw power for a while now. The Wii-U puts them about between a 360 and a ps3 in raw graphic power. Though how well they can use it remains to be seen.
It was really obvious how weak the Wii is when compared to the PS3 and Xbox 360 with skyward sword. Which didn't even have anti-aliasing of any kind. A feature standard in graphics for about 5-7 years in pretty much everything.
Quality does NOT equal texture resolution, hence why just cause it can go higher resolution doesn't make the quality any better. Only look better the bigger it is. If a game has bad quality it'll still look bad in higher resolution.
It's something called "nothing new but different" the touch pad isn't new its however its different in the Wii-U
