    Hardly nowadays Some genres have ideas completely new, anyway after 40 years of Japanese animation always some scene or story will inevitably resemble another.
    The same applies to games where fashion now is casual game where the maximum working player is point and shoot. (With rare exception)
    And the unfortunate death of the original rpgs (thanks USA)
    About anime, in my case FS is always welcome ..

    With the exception of a few exclusive games for domestic consumption in Japan, all games for export, are made to taste the American market and then redistributed to the rest of the world!
    That since before the PS1 (Americans are fanatical about sport and this fact)
    To suit shooters (another American habit) was incorporated to RPG-- fps.
    Americans mostly never play original rpgs is another fact, was only accepted when it was modified to include fps (like mass effect) even fallout, was modified in version 3 ..
    The U.S. market has always dictated rules, what's good for you guys must be for the rest of the world (may be changing but for decades it has been the same)
    Square .. good example .. tried to assimilate American style to their games and ended up killing one of their biggest franchises.
    I'm not a hypocrite to say that I did not like fallout or mass, but the guilt of changing the format of rpgs is clear ..

    So the Japanese companies that decided to change how they do things to fit american tastes it at fault. They, like most Japanese game companies, have lost their love for games and only crave money. Especially Nintendo. None of their recent games have been anything interesting, they just want to milk a franchise for all they can. That's what's happened with a lot of JRPGs over the years. They just want more money so they try, and fail, to appeal to a certain market but end up falling flat because in doing that they destroy what it is that gave them a place in that market to begin with. If anything the problem is that they are so out of touch with what fans want out of a JRPG. I don't really understand what mass effect or fallout have to do with it. to me JRPGs are a whole different genre than the RPGs made here in the states. in a JRPG you're taking the role of acharacter and living their adventure, they're extremly reliant on the story and characters, where american RPGs are more about the individual and exploration than they are about the story itself.
