Police Arrest Man with 12-Year-Old Girl in Luggage

A man has been arrested after being found with a 12-year-old schoolgirl in his bag, whom he had just kidnapped off the street.
The incident began when a 20-year-old man boarded a tax in Hiroshima prefecture, putting a heavy travel bag in the trunk.
However, the taxi driver thought something amiss and asked a bystander to call police, who quickly arrived at the scene only to discover his luggage contained a 12-year-old girl.
The girl, a 6th year elementary schooler, was unharmed and taken into police protection. Her kidnapper was arrested on the spot for unlawful confinement.
He claimed to be a student in Tokyo, although the girl was from Hiroshima. He had apparently approached her on the street and forced her to get into his bag at knife-point, getting less than 200m and holding her for half an hour or so before being apprehended.
Police are questioning him as to his motives in making off with the girl.
