Sword Art Online’s many fans continue to acclaim it the best thing since Tera Online, boasting as it does both action and cool and sexy protagonists in the form of Kirito and Asuna…
Scenes of great quality abound:
Fascinatingly, fans have also catalogued the evolution of the costumes sported by the main pair:
Understandably, rather more attention has been lavished on Asuna’s Nyantype debut, along with her imminent lingerie cover:

I have to admit, this anime have a very good story, and very nice animation and character design. I would donate half of my pay cheque for research done to bring such a headsets to us!
can you imgine playing the next Star Ocean of Tales of game in such a way!
Just get a head mount display now and be done with it.
a head mount display isn't good enough, the headset in the anime let you truly enter the game and be the character that you are playing.
a head mount display simply put the screen in-front-of you eyes and nothing more (except for allowing free head movement).
have u seen Total Recall? 2012.
that memory creator or that stuff at the beginning of the film 've got the same functionality as the haedset from SAO i think.
if neurologic's scientist do their best in understanding our brain they'll come to the idea of that headset
That will be awesome. Imagine playing Eve Online with that. I can *actually* fire my autocannons with a thought!
Very good story? Oh, you are just being sarcastic. I actually enjoy the episodes, no small thanks to the amount of focus on the main couple, but I do wish the story was actually at least decent and above all more coherent, to justify the jolly good animation and occasional interesting characters.
different people have different opinions. I do find the story interesting.
Keep in mind that the story is just showing the daily lives of people who are stuck in a MMORPG. There really shouldn't be much, other than showing their daily lives! And the quests they have to under take.
If only they'd concentrate on keeping the story tied together and not randomly sticking parts of the story in there as if they were flipping pages in a journal/diary... Doesn't have to perfectly tie together, but all the random stories in between the actual story progression eps are too much. It's like trying trying to watch episodes of Naruto/Bleach with all those fillers spread around like wildfire.
The short random storys are just awesome...
If we followed the novel volume 1 then it wouldn't have been so random.
Intro>2 year skip(like all the stories that happened before?Skip it.)> Rabbit>Party with Asuna(not the Ep2 one this the one later)>Dual Blades>etc.
Episode 1>Episode 8>etc. was basically volume 1
If the story is like flipping pages in a journal then it probably is.The author wrote it as a web novel originally and ended(completed)the story. It was only later on that he/she got published officially(so stories will seem that way, also since it was a webnovel the author was bound to make fun side stories).

This.
Also, Kirito being a super awesome gary stu is quite boring, you already know the outcome of all the fights and the other characters never really get a chance to shine on their own.
That aside, it's really enjoyable.
Too vague for my tastes.
What would you define as a "decent" story then? The premise of the story is well known and there's enough personal drama for all characters involved. It also sticks rather faithfully to the novel material, although no adaptation can ever truly grasp the full extent of the base material. There's simply not enough effective animation time to cover everything.
And yes, this show actually gets a surprising amount of quality done. That's already surprising, considering the overall decline in animation quality and finances these days.
This anime is so overrated...
Everything is overrated and over-hyped. Take the foot out of your ass already. lol
I agree. It's one of those works that have a good premise but an unsatisfying execution...
You talk a lot about this anime. Maybe I should watch it.
The concept sounds good, but it practice the whole show is broken.
In reality all these people "trapped" inside a game we're made to think plays out in real-time would die from bed sores, like Christopher Reeve, long before they could ever finish the game.
And an expanding number of fatalities would give engineers enough samples to figure out how the helmet works, then disable it's brain boiling microwave unit.
Not to mention the design of the helmet would carry tons of exploit points because PCB layouts are flat, meaning the helmet would be composed of joined PCB pieces, making it much easier to disable.
Then we have to believe that batteries no larger than a pair of AA batteries can power a microwave unit. And do it in such a way to generate enough energy to boil the brain in a matter of seconds. I don't know about you, but my 1000watt microwave still takes over 1:30 to boil a cup of water.
The whole concept is broken by design. Meaning either the author is an idiot or the whole thing is a scam, with one massive disappointing ending where everyone is still alive at the end.
I'm sure Elaine Esposito case refutes that. Having been in a coma for 37 years... Whose the idiot now? And she wasn't even cared for in a hospital but instead a bed between the 30s and 70s. Also what do you know of batteries, microwave and, consumer electronic design in the year 2022 or health care?
An anomaly is just that, an anomaly. Sorry kid, but one out of how many tens of thousands does not prove shit. And you're an idiot for thinking it does. We're talking 10,000 people (at peek) "trapped" in an induced coma, for years.
Do you even know anyone who's a quadriplegic or in a long term coma? I didn't think so. My cousin broke his neck in a motorcycle accident and after a couple years died of bed sores. Just like Reeve, as a quadriplegic he remained as active as could be.
Just because logic is the most important thing about anime!
Not saying SAO doesnt have flaws but you are overthinking things way too much.
Your trying to use reality to explain a fictional anime that gives us vague information on how the helmet works. Nice logic there.
Care to explain how Gundams fuction and how magic works next?
is ci-fi bro, you computer no works whit magic
well if its gundam wing they work through rapidly moving 1 lever firwards and back.
IIRC in Wing & Seed they were powered by a particle accelerator. The rest had Fission reactors strapped to the back.
Take a chill pill, this is not science class.
And beside who's to say in the future a pair of double AA sized batteries can't give enough juice to power a microwave.
I've seen bigger batteries in the past with less power then a Double AA battery.
The story only takes place 10 years from now. Not enough time for tiny batteries to magically change from 1.5 volts to thousands of volts.
Pretty sure we're capable of having AA sized batteries with quite a bit more capacity than 1,5 volts today. and techonolgy doubles every second year, meaning 10 years from now it would have doubled 2^5 -> 32 times.
So assuming our maximum is 1,5v for an AA battery in 10 years it could be 48v.
A new type of energy, maybe? So many things can happen in 10 years from now.
The ultimate battery storage capacity is limited by chemistry and not technology and most of those are known. There aren't any redox reactions that can generate more than a few volts.
If you can convert the energy of a stick of high explosive into electrical energy, you have yourself a battery that is capable of delivering a high amount of energy for a short duration.
Yhy don't they fry the brain by high voltage or even small high explosive charges? It would take far less efforts and is doable at today's technology level. ;P
*assuming a pair of AA batteries powers the unit*
the headset probably have its own customized on-board battery
"So many things can happen in 10 years from now."
lol what is this, The Jetsons? Sounds like something those fools in the 50s thought about the present day world. Yet we have no moon colonies, robots or flying cars.
the concenpt of the anime have its shortcomings, and after the 1st epsoide, I expected the full anime to finish in less then 48 hours (anime world time).
any way, if you accept the anime's world, you might be able to enjoy it. After all, how many soldiers do you know in real life who managed to win a war all by themselives and killed more then 1000 enemy soldiers in few days?
i give the Aincrad Arc about 3 or 4 more episodes then it will move on to the Fairy Dance Arc
Your brain is more complex than a 'cup of water'. Put something with a complex brain (kitten, puppy or infant) in a microwave and see how long it takes for the delicate and intricate nerves to become disabled.
I tried it with a hamster. Still took over 3 minutes.
Animal cruelty brigade wants to have a chat with you
22:39 lmao reminds me of maniac mansion
your talking shit
Boiling a cup of water is raising from 21C to 100C + turning a bit to vapor. So that's close to 80C delta T + additional enthalpy of vaporization to change some of the water from a liquid phase at 100C to its vapor phase.
You don't need to raise the brain to 100C to destroy its function. Probably something beyond a high fever would do the job. I would guess 45C to 50C range. Since the body is at 37C, that's about 8C to 12C delta.
It is easier to fabricate, but a PCB doesn't have to be flat. You can also have rigid-flex PCB to conform to the contour of the head. You see a lot of those in small electronics such as cameras etc.
SA:O takes place in a future setting and technology is more or less sci-fi advanced. I mean this should be fairly obvious given the super-VR headsets that hijack brainwaves? I mean I know of EEG headsets but I can't really imagine anything like the NERV-Gear hitting with present day tech, can you?
And just for a case in point example (because this is a valid concern), players don't have bed sores because they're specifically shown later on to be sleeping in some kind of ballistic gel substance that the author explains as some kind of medical substance specifically designed to prevent them (which is actually a pretty clever idea).
though thats a bit of a spoiler
everyone was transported to Hospitals anyway
so the nurses there know how to solve those problems of being sore
You're full of shit. EP13 just aired and just like a predicted, based on current hospital technology, everyone stuck in the game will eventually die from bed sours & muscle atrophy.
"If our bodies are barely kept alive on hospital beds, how long do you think that could go on?"-Asuna
"So you're saying we have a time limit, regardless of whether we beat the game or not?"-Kirito
NOW SUCK MY COCK, FAGGOTS. I was right, you pathetic shit talking idiots. Pretending you people know anything about bed sours & making up stories about Avatar grade gel-beds.
God kills a kitten every time you apply pure realistic logic to anime. There are realistic ones set in the normal world, it's called nonfiction or drama. Go find those.
It's meant as entertainment, are you not entertained? If not, go find something that suits you.
that's like saying One Piece isn't realistic enough, or the girls in hentai or atleast ecchi anime isn't realistic since they have big boobs and asians mostly have small ones.
you sir, never live in asia
You've never seen Sunny Lin, the Boa Hancock lookalike, huh?
well duh, that's the only "realistic" part of one piece, think of the fight scenes and the actual "one piece world" you fucking dumbass
you also need to remind yourself the novel was first released in 2000 so some of the understanding back then was quite different than today
If read the novel it explains all. now.coul you explain why more than 1000000 coincidences formed our worldwithour going in religion?
No.
They are under medical attention, much like coma patients.
People under medical attention still die from bed sores. Stupid.
Not unless they are under proper care and supervision. I'm sure their nurses aren't so incompetent to not know how to deal with coma patients.
@20:02
Wow.
Calling others stupid while you yourself don't seem to have the slightest clue about health-care.
Go back to your cave, idiot-troll.
19:41 you're the idiot, for acting as thou you even had a fucking clue. Call me when you know someone with a severed spinal cord. Stupid.
Indeed, it's just a helmet. Even a complicated bomb can be fused by dismantling it carefully. I don't see how they can't loosen the screw or slit open the surface carefully, and toy with the inside in order to these HAO players.
