Well to be fair this list is for only 2012 summer so if you've not watched any of those recent anime, then it is no surprise ...

sankaku top# anime list always from short memory people. top 5 only from latest season anime. then new list come out next season, top 5 of only from that other next season, proving my point

lol if you're not gunna watch whats airing then you wont get whats on the list, unless its just a BS list ~ i always watch like 10-15 shows each season and i usually know almost every character i see

I'm finding it hard to believe Chinatsu Yoshikawa is the top Yuru Yuri character considering she is the most most annoying one out of all of them.
Also great to see Himeko Inaba on top 5 spot. But where is Momiji????

SAO is like one of the most poorly executed adaptations i've seen in a while. All of the girl characters are the same (and think the same) and kirito isn't much better. Watashi actually has distinguishing characteristics (mentally at least).

Asuna: plays the tsundere game to make it seem like she doesn't love him, but in fact grows a noticeable attraction within an episode or 2
Liz: falls in love in like 5 mins, plays the same "Oh i hate this kid and by the end of the episode I love him" game as Asuna.
Most of them have similar fanservice scenes involving kirito: Asuna with the boobgrab, cousin/sister lookalike with the flowers that have tentacle stems, Liz being the exception since the whole sleeping thing wasn't really blatant.
(notice how i don't care as of now whether the asuna/kirito relationship develops or not because this poll was just made; thus, it means 8 episodes of the sword art anime adaptation (not the light novel) are completed and 9 episodes of jinrui are done too)
Ok onto Watashi, shall we?
In probably most of the anime we have released today (please don't make me list them, there's too many), the girl characters are kinda stupid or have that oh so familiar teenage girl crush business going on. Seeing a character like Watashi is honestly a breathe of fresh air. A rather stoic individual on the outside, hearing her inner thoughts are personally hilarious. Since you could classify Jinrui as a satire of sorts, her role to point out our downfalls is rather enjoyable. In episode one, you hear her monologue about how the town meeting went, with absolutely no progression, the decision being basically predestined, and the moral of the story being that meetings suck. It's little clever comments or monologues like these that makes watashi, in my opinion, a better character.
Similarly, it's obviously difficult to compare the heroine of an action/adventure/fantasy with the heroine of a comedy, so you may very well be right about Asuna having more depth and whatever your claims are. However, as an overall character fitted with the role she is given with, I'd say watashi is definitely deserving of the one-spot. And notice how nowhere in the comment did I say Asuna didn't even deserve to be on the list...And also, you're acting all high and mighty asking me to support my claims with evidence while i haven't heard a shred of evidence from you. Mind if you can elaborate so I can understand your point of view. It'd be rather helpful.
Watashi is single heroine that show up in all episodes with her unique cute and sadistic mind. while asuna only appear few times and she is just your regular tsundere wannabe you can find anywhere.
