For those otaku willing to risk permanently removing themselves from the human genepool, to say nothing of ridicule and persecution at the hands of neighbours and passers-by, “ita-curtains” (also “moe-curtains”) are reputedly proving more popular than ever, with a vast variety of bishoujo-emblazoned curtains now available for those brave enough to deploy them.

With a complimentary limit break to those who spot the distinguished if inexplicable company Azunyan’s portrait is keeping in one of the pictured rooms…
For those brave souls looking to decorate their rooms in similar fashion, full blown order-made ita-curtains are still something of an expensive specialist item for obvious reasons (and all but impossible to get overseas), but similarly useful shower curtains, drapes, noren, blinds, tapestries and similar are all relatively widely available, and there is also the “poor” otaku’s alternative of attaching a dakimakura cover or sheet to normal curtains.
Embracing your passion and buying some curtains or other merchandise won't stop your social life. Not going outside anymore will. Don't be afraid of showing other people who you are.
This is a cute way of thinking but face it : for people who aren't otaku these are completely distateful and are signs of a complete desire to live outside of reality.
People aren't tolerant enough.
I don't know which reality you live in but in mine, plenty of people are familar with anime. If you act like you've got something to hide, people will naturally get suspicious. Address your interests in a casual manner and show that it's not that big of a deal. At the end of the day, society is just a bunch of people and even excluding those that are judgemental towards your activities, there'll be plenty left to be your friends. Most people are secluded because they're either too lazy or too afraid to get to know anyone new.
You mean like these otaku, too lazy or afraid to get to know real women.
@10:11 You don't even personally know these people, little man.
@07:56 How arrogant can you get?! Your opinion on what's "distasteful" is totally ignorant. Why the hell would you even give a damn if people aren't "tolerant enough"? You care too much what other people think of you...
And by not giving even half a fuck of what people think of you, you're going to be continuing to whine about being forever alone.
@10:12 I'm not whining about anything, you ignorant little child.
Hypocrite anon calls other anone ignorant. Why do you care that he cares what others think? LOL.
I'm 07:56. There is no way I am being arrogant about it. I am stating that having pictures of people (virtual or not) that you fancy all over your room is distateful. Imo it's like saying "I masturbate to this". Obviously you'd have to care about what people think to care about taste.
This article made me think about Ōno Kanako from Genshiken. In the chapter where she invites people over and asks for them to wait outside while she secretly removes posters of bald men. Considering inviting people over is part of one's social life.
There was nothing offensive about it, I was just being honest.
You would be surprised how much people are willing to overlook if you have a pleasant personality. Be cheerful and nice, and your "anime obsession" is barely going to make a difference.
That said, don't hang up anything suggestive on your window. It could land you in jail.
Some are plain outright cute. Now the more risque ones are another story but I would put some of the cute ones up myself if I could. Can't afford though I want.
Now that's something I would love to have in my room.

this is awesome no matter what
indeed but its too awesome to hang in my room !!
that's amazing, but too dark of a theme.
Do want actually
Wow I would love some of those curtains, wonder if I could get one's that are black and hellsing themed.
So awesome.
If only they shipped these overseas...
Maybe a forwarding service like Tenso could handle it
Dude, ebay...
Indeed. The real problem with buying these overseas, is that to choose one you need to see a gallery of them, with your own eyes, not pictures.
Same goes for real-size dolls, fortunately my country holds a gallery of them, lost in a discrete place.
I want to do this on window blinds-- Dakimakura style.
I want one.
I be jelly as fuck
Me too, but they're sooo expensive! :\
Uh. They hardly cost half a week of dating.
How about shower curtains? So you can just jerk off onto the character whenever you're taking a shower?
I don't need one, they are already in my heart.
i love you man. no homo
totally my philosophy (plus i'm broke)
only virgin wizard at age 30 can obtain one.
I'm in my late teens and I already have one...
you must be a very talented MASTER Beta.
> you must be a very talented MASTER Beta.
Had a bunch too around 25. I'm closer to a gamma than beta personality, but as for professional skills, yeah, I was acknowledged a rather nice pay.
Then again, they aren't expensive. When you spend no money socializing or doing another hobby, collecting anime goods is a piece of cake, including those.
@ anon 9:04 use of the term beta often means one is beta themselves.
ROFL! Good one Anon 08:53
While Sages(Virgin Level: 60)have shrines already.
I want that blue one in 001.
Haven't yet bought curtains for my apartment, and these makes an Akibahara trip so much more urgent.
Anyone know where they sell those?
Now this is a way to keep out the light.
it'll keep burglars out too.
burglar: oh shit, saber is there.
Burglars wouldn't even consider robbing an otaku. They spend all their money on overpriced BDs and figurines anyway.
Um, Most Otaku have pretty expensive tech in their homes...
...when was lotion and toilet paper became expensive tech?
What if the burglar is also an otaku?
09:20 Wow! You've personally been to their homes?!
Congratulations on making an ass out of yourself!
Tech might be expensive new, but second-hand I wouldn't be so sure.
nah it isn't, especially for those who smoke the weed. i recommend regular curtains underneath those to keep out the light - and to solve kazaza2's problem simultaneously.
Damn, I won't spend any money for it since everything would disappear like how what happened last year.
Someone broke into your house and stole your curtains
Flood victim?
