Sword Art Online’s murderous propensity for killing off its heroines is matched only by its enthusiasm for doing away with the plot of the original light novels (hundreds of pages have disappeared into but 2 episodes), if the niggling complaints of purists are anything to go by – although fortunately absolutely everyone can agree on Asuna’s cuteness.
most epically heart wrenching show since GANTZ.

I’m fairly sure they chose the right placement for these side stories. Honestly if they went by the order in the light novels the main Aincrad storyline would’ve been over too quickly. Better for them to place the exciting, relevant parts of the story near the end of the season, and place the side stories in the middle to create a more cohesive ( I use that term loosely ) timeline.
And even more so, the transition from Phantom Bullet/Mother Rosario arcs to Early and Late is completely unsettling. You go from an exciting arc like Phantom Bullet, lose some of the sensation in Mother Rosario, then take 20 paces back to do side stories from 2-3 arcs ago? It’s really stupid. Dumb enough to completely make me lose interest in starting volume 9.
Be patient anime watchers! It’s going to be great, and you will be glad you waited for it. I’m sure the timeline of the anime will re image the series with changes Kawahara would’ve made in retrospect.
If there only killing women maybe the director got dumped recently so he is raging.
I liked this ep, but guess is time to check the manga.
