These animes now come in cult edition.
I watched cowboy bebop and samurai champloo long before I really got into anime, they were genuinely good shows outside of being anime.
I think Haruhi and especially Lucky Star were the ones that got me into anime in general though. They were accessible and well animated enough for the average person but got you curious about the deeper depths of perversion…
