The original volume 1 novel does the prologue (which was ep1), and then skips to floor 70 and runs until the end of the Aincrad. This is basically the point Asuna becomes a relevent character, because lord knows she's the only reason this series is salvageable.
Afterwards he wrote volume 2, which is a collection of absolutely terrible sidestories written from various female points of view that do nothing more than convert Kirito into an even bigger male-wish-fulfillment character. With the exception of the last one (which was ep3, incidentally), volume 2 is a series of shallow interludes where random girls fall in love with the MC for vapid reasons for the sake of doing so. Loli girl is just such a one, though to the anime's credit it comes across MUCH BETTER in the anime when you're not privy to her soul-crushing thoughts.
To the benefit of loli-haters and dismay of her supporters, you will not really be seeing any more of her unless a season going beyond Aincrad airs. She's a side character, and no longer relevent.

Episode 2 was based on the worst side-story so far...
More like the novel itself was crap. I read the dam thing and it was good at the beginning and complete crap at the end. The story goes downhill instead of going uphill until the climax. Also, relationships are clearly not the author's fort.
You can tell how this will turn it (same author as Accel World).

This anime is suppose to go all the way to the end of Volume 4.Asuna will secure her place as the girlfriend,but wont be action partner with Kirito after the Aincrad Arc.

Exactly why I skipped Vol2 completely. So I didn't know who Silica and Lizbeth are, but Yui is explained enough in Vol3 and the Sacchi incident was mentioned more than enough in Vol1. Anything based on Vol2 is simply unnecessary.
I guess skipping all the way to lvl 70 gets past all the boring grinding and what not you would expect from an mmo. but seriously hes been gaining like 25 lvls every new ep. Do they even mention a lvl cap in the novels?

Even this is just a side story, they will influence the following story even just a little. From volume 2, only Yui's appearance in "Morning Dew Girl" which is the most necessary in the whole story.

Morning Dew Girl physically can't occur until the later half of the series since it's set during Kirito and Asuna's "together-time" on the 22nd forest floor (where the fishing event takes place).

Eh, I wouldn't go with 'one-handed + no shield' unless there was a significant boost to damage or balance without the second blade or shield, which most or all games fail to provide. And ideally you would have to be able to do something with your free hand like cast lightning or force choke.
Yeah, most people that chooses one- one handed weapon + no shield are mostly people that does it because its "cool".
*Spoiler* Reason for Single sword is that, he dual-weilds and most likey the reason he doesn't equip a shield is because it takes too long to switch weapons.
Well i guess the only reason you would be stupid enough not to equip a shield with a one handed sword would be for duel wielding purposes.
There's also the issue of being able to grapple, if you're only using an one-handed sword.
Plus depending upon your weapon choice, your weapon might qualify as a hand-and-a-half, meaning you can wield it with both 1 or 2 hands, for speed/damage purposes.
Lastly, it'll allow you to grab items and toss them as well. Heck, just watch an Errol Flynn movie and you'll see what I mean with that.
in the light novel it have been stated there is boost to speed using no shield
