No Azumanga Daioh? This is just so wrong...
I wouldn't say it was all that funny. It had a few moments and was incredibly heart warming but you rarely burst out laughing.
I would have put Cromartie High School a little higher in the list myself.
Would have thought Excel Saga would have made the Top 25 as well even if it got a little tired post episode 12ish.
Nichibros was so much funnier, its plain and simply men being men.
Sense of humor is subjective. Plus, Azumanga is far funnier if you're going to judge it by popularity. It's over a decade old and still ranked consistently highly by casual and hardcore viewers alike.
Sounds just like Call of Duty, popularity =/= good. But not saying Azumanga was bad.

Nichibros is OK. It had its moments, like the kick the can gag and the first episode's girl and the lake gag, but most gags were hit or miss with mostly misses. Mazai jokes are hard to pull off and Nichibros overused it unsuccessfully with each segment ending with tsukkomi, which made every gag predictable. Shows like Ichigo Mashimaro did it better with the straightman(Chi) actually having a personality of a straightman instead of filling the role in a contrived manner as it was necessary at the end of each joke. Yelling =/= automatically funny.
And Urusei Yatsura, where the hell is Urusei Yatsura? These polls always seem to have shorter memory than an insect.
The Japanese who would remember that are like 45 years old and up. They're probably not hanging around an obscure anime site to vote.
You underestimate the powers of the middle-aged Japanese Otaku.
Also Lucky Star? I thought it was quite funny...
Urusei Yatsura has its own genre. That anime is a legend!

personally i love Comic Party, but I guess it's not overworldly funny.
Where the fuck is Puni Puni Poemi?
Excel Saga and Puni Puni Poemi weren't that funny, they were just pure randomness with an extremely annoying main character on top of it. Seriously, I can't stand Kotono Mitsuishi's Excel voice.
And the only funny thing about Azumanga is Osaka, rest of the cast is either bland and boring (Chiyo, glasses girl, Kaorin,...) or very annoying (Tomo, Yukari,...).
Excel Saga and Puni Puni Poemi are awesome. I think Puni Puni Poemi has the supidest scene I've ever seen when poemi screams she wants to be a seiyuu and then the action stops and then three guys pushing gigant balls and saying stupid things appears on screen.

Fucky Star is 29, just after Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokurochan.
Acchi Kochi was SO funny, as was Baka to Test and Hayate the Combat Butler, which by the way is getting a 3rd season.
No Hayate on this list is a crime, especially when 4 eps of Binbougami ga made it.
Seto no Hanayome at 22 seems low too. I nearly choked to death laughing pretty much every episode.

hell no lucky star is not funny at all.
most the folks that generally say lucky star wasn't funny just don't get the jokes/gags either because they don't get the cultural context or they're not old enough to know some of the things being referenced either discreetl or otherwise.
None of the three are funny unless you're still a kid, which is mostly who votes for these lists.

That is the # 1 of all time for me. It literally had be falling out of my chair , laughing and annoying people around me who didn't understand what was so hilarious to me. I need to rewatch it soon!
Azumanga Daioh is overrated, it's actually one of the worst comedy animes(IMO). Besides, it doesn't have Kamen no Maid Guy or Minami-ke either.

No GTO anywhere on that list. I feel warm and fuzzy that Cromartie High made it to that list, but GTO should have owned the hell out of everything on that list.

That's far too old to be voted in by the kids who are polled for these things. But as long as we're wondering why older or less well-known comedies aren't on here, I'm going to have to go with Tentai Senshi Sunred.

Shin-chan also aired until much more recently, had countless episodes, and is basically an institution in an of itself. All of these "toplists" have a couple such obvious choices on them to lend them marginal credibility. GTO doesn't have that kind of momentum.
And let's face it: despite our feelings towards GTO, it's more fondly remembered as a highschool drama with some comedy, not a comedy first.
Shin-chan? You do realize that show is still running right? When that person said, "too old" they were implying that it's been off the air for years, so people would forget. People can't forget about a show that is still on TV.
