The scandal surrounding the 13-year-old Shiga prefecture schoolboy who was only able to end his bullying by leaping from his apartment block continues to deepen, with teachers apparently still of the opinion that bullying had nothing to do with his death and that they are being unfairly scapegoated for not doing anything at all to help him.
According to emails reportedly sent by the city’s top teaching official, the real victims of the scandal are the poor teachers:
“If the mass media weren’t involved, this would be nothing at all.”
“The media are just stirring things up too much.”
“We’re victims as well here.”
“Why’d they have to get the police involved now of all times?”
“Nobody even recognises the bullying caused his suicide in any case, so the reporting is all wrong.”
The bullying scandal has continued to unfold with yet more details of his bullying emerging, including the fact the bullies apparently forced their way into his bedroom and stole his wallet and that one of their number was transferred to another school where he continued to bully other pupils, as well as all manner of efforts on the part of the teachers and parents of the bullies to deflect the blame back onto the dead victim.
Even the latest prime minister has chipped in with the following:
“I have a message for any child being bullied – you’re not alone, there is certainly someone out there who will look out for you. It doesn’t matter who, just seek help.”
However, it did not take long for critics to point out the boy repeatedly sought help from teachers, parents and police, none of whom actually bothered to do anything to prevent him being hounded into suicide by his classmates.

You've got to be fucking kidding me.
so called teacher nowadays
How the fuck can a teacher be so unethical? Isn't that teaching the wrong things to the kids? What the fuck is going on?
They're too busy having sechs with the pupils to teach them anything meaningful >.>
There are no words that can possibly describe my anger right now. I wish for the absolute worse on all parties involved with his kids torture.
Aren't the teachers responsible for the well being of their students?
Not exactly. The school is, not the teachers. A teacher's job is to teach, nothing more. Whether one wants to help or not depends entirely on his own moral.
In this case, the teachers are all morally retarded individuals but that doesn't mean they're bad teachers (unless their teaching sucks as well).
Incorrect. Teachers are responsible, as they are SCHOOL STAFF, therefore they fall under the school's jurisdiction and are responsible for the well-being of students, as well as their safety. It might be different in Japan, but for the most part everywhere else, this is what they do. They're their to teach mostly, but the secondary part of their job is to care for their well-being and safety.
Only the ones they're having sex with.
You're talking science fiction here. In this day and age?
If I were him I'd have tried to take as many of them as possible out with me.
You mean like the columbine guys? Or the guys with turbans blowing themselves up?
For every bully and teacher to damn lazy to do their jobs I wish for them a lifetime suffering. Maybe then they'll understand how that kid felt.
And for those idiots who dare to claim that they are the "real victims", may their teeth be thoroughly kicked in the next time they spout this bullshit.
It IS NOT their job. If you want to talk about not doing their job, that'll be the police.
It is the teachers responsibility to step in and do what they can to stop the bullying, be it separating the kids/punishments (low end), calling the parents and having them do something about their fucktard children, or calling the police and having them do something about it (assault -- high end). Being a teacher carries more responsibilities with the job title than just standing in front of the class reading from a book and handing out tests.
In this case, the teachers should've backed the bullied kid and if getting the police involved didn't help (as it seems it wouldn't have), they should've sided with the parents and shown light on the polices misdoings as well.
Schools are responsible for a childs health and well-being while the children are under their supervision, and the adults involved neglected their responsibilities and as a result, a child died.
EVERYBODY that had a hand in this happening should be punished for their inaction and should be used as an example as to what will happen to anybody that sits back and does nothing to stop similar cases in the future.
I'm sure you meant to say it but I would go a step further and say that it's the teachers and the schools responsibility to to protect both the physical AND mental well being of any and all students attending the school.
Teachers and various other school staff are responsible not only for education, but also the well being of the children they teach, as they are in the care of the school from when they arrive until they're dismissed. It IS their job to maintain that well being while the children are at school. A teacher failing to offer aid to a child in trouble is failing to perform the duties they've taken on by entering the profession.
Sorry my friend, I have to feed you, even though you are a troll. Teachers' jobs are the education, safety and welfare of their students. If they can't handle that then those fucktards should just quit and get the fuck out of the education system, it's a miracle they got their jobs in the first place.
Ha, I'm a troll. Well, pardon for seeing reality as what it is.
A teacher's job is to teach and that's it. The safety and welfare of students is the school's responsibility, not the teachers (and limited to school grounds).
Also, last I checked, a Teacher's job does not require him to be a saint. In other words, one can be a morally messed up individual but that doesn't mean he is a bad teacher.
feed him until he dies!
Miracle? Isn't the interview stage any job just a bunch of lying and image faking to begin with?
Children are the future.
Give the molding of future to assholes, and see what happens.
Oh, wait, they've already done that. Look at where Japan is now, and where it seems to be quite clearly headed. Look at the frequency of these sorts of events.
You, good sir, are a mentally deficient fucktart of the highest order if you believe that a teacher's job is only "to teach".
I don't think you're getting it; this WAS on school grounds, which means that yes, ALL of the teachers who abated the bullying are responsible, as is the Principal. He sought help repeatedly, from everyone, but no one came to his side. At all.
They're all at fault. And actually, yes, teachers jobs are thusly:
To teach students, according to policy, as well as care for the welfare and security of their wards during school-time. This was during school time. Therefore, they ARE responsible for it.
After school-time, technically it falls under school grounds until the student is at his or her's home, apartment complex, or shanty, wherever they may live. Then it is no longer the school's responsibility.
You aren't seeing reality. You're seeing your own version of reality that is incorrect from company policy as well as reality. Now, the Japanese teachers are by no means saintly; to even pretend they are is to ignore reality.
They are still however responsible for their wellbeing, which in some cases, is subjective. Legally, they are obligated to make sure the children are not dead while on school grounds. This is obviously not terribly enforceable, as children die on school grounds a lot. You can't help that, sometimes shit happens.
They're still legally responsible for their general safety, moreso when a child comes to them seeking help because of bullying. Whether they respond to it or not is irrelevant; legally, they're still responsible. Japan's legal system might be different, but elsewhere, this is generally what it entails.
A teacher's job, then, while school is in session to: teach responsibly, adequately and within company policy, to ensure the safety and welfare of his or her children, and to watch over and make sure explicit school rules are not broken, such as dress codes, smoking, etc.
They don't have to be saints, no, but legally speaking, welfare and safety is one of their jobs. You're taking the 'teaching' part quite a bit too literally; to get the truth, you have to actually read sometime.
Your points are valid anon 20:20 to be sure. But it doesn't hurt for the teacher to do more then teach.
I agree with Anon@14:14.
Police's jobs are deterrent with their presence and act after crimes happened. If you expect the police need to be on their toe to catch every criminals before the actual crime happened, this is not Minority Report.
However, what the police can do is to actively be part of the community, instead of holed up in a community of their own that may flex their power without restraints.
They together with educators along with everybody else should be the show of good examplaries for the impressionable youths.
Then again, that's just my hopeful wish in this day and age.
The fucking fuck!? Selfish bitch ass teachers! Fucking hate those waste of space fucktards that think his suicide had nothing to do with them!? He came to you and begged for help and you brushed his cries aside! I hope they burn in hell for all eternity, being tortured FAR worse than the poor boy
Had to endure!
Pieces of shit!
Hell doesn't exist, so that isn't going to happen. We CAN put them into prison for conspiracy after the fact in assault, bullying, etc.
wrong, oh so wrong. Hell does exist. I just hope they get sent there sooner than later.
How do i know hell exist? We have New Jersey and DMVs don't we? if those exist, then what awaits those who deserve it must exist in the after life.
Exactly. Just think to the adage, "No matter how bad things, they can get worse."
>We have Jersey
New Jersey is fucking amazing. I should know.
Hey, prove it. Yeah, thought so.
FSM exists. Can you prove it doesn't? Yeah, thought so.
Can we not get into a religious debate here? You can't prove or disprove either one, so both of you, go be retarded elsewhere.
SH1T~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
AND NOW I AM A GHOST...OR AM I. DUN DUN DUN
"we did nothing wrong." yeah well ya sure didn't do the right thing either.
Damn. This guy is fucking irresponsible. He is the victim? Yeah right. And what is wrong with police and the media involved? You don't have to be afraid if it is really not your fault.
This city’s top teaching official need to be kicked on the nut.
He only has one? Are all Japanese men the same? No wonder they're all a bunch of pussies.
I mean, nuts. but yeah, this guy is a sissy.
I think thats why he only has one nut.
That's the worst example of trying to cover up something by making an excuse to say that your the victim when the actual victim is died.
lets cut his dick and feed it to the dogs. i hope all people bully him every day
I am more shocked in how these fools can even stay employed. In Japan, the employment rate is really low. WHAT WE NEED are teachers that are not educated enough to do their jobs but are capable of giving good care and responsibility for their students. When these people go to jail, I would enjoy their torment in how they would never get a job in the future.
Its ridiculous how far people will go to refuse admitting responsibility for anything.
Sadly, japanese people are pretty much world champions at doing precisely that.
Hmm, can't agree with that. Lived in the UK for 10 years and they could seriously challenge for that crown any day.
Awwwwww that's so cute! Is that what they tell themselfs to go to sleep?
“Why’d they have to get the police involved now of all times?”
well, duh...A kid just died, who do they expect to get involve?
The Power Rangers or Super Sentai, of course.
If Eikichi Onizuka were there, he'd have save the kid from falling, beat up the bullies and torture the teachers. The situation is almost like GTO
a german-suplex for every bastard sounds good right about now...
