The parodies feel forced to me.
because they are.
"a parody is an imitation of the style of a particular writer, artist, or genre with deliberate exaggeration for comic effect"
simply showing something from another series isn't a parody. dohoho, pixelated doraemon, so funny.
for example: that vg cats comic with the incredibly long banana jutsu name is a parody of naruto, just showing someone wear naruto headband is not.
I just love this anime.
Is it me or is almost half of the anime this season using parodies. It's funny some times but when everybody else starts doing the same damn thing it gets lame. Its like having a circus and everybody in it is an animal tamer. It seems like nobody is willing to lead anymore just happy being followers to the trend that may get them more money.
The Manga to this series came out over four-years ago...
Parodies were even popular back 4 years ago. They just followed the other manga during taht time that were doing parody's as well(Even though it was a small number of manga doing them at that time).
is this anime like those parody movies where they take bits of other movies, and try to create something funny out of it? for example Epic movie...
Even though this series is good there is way more references the actual parodies.
Epic Movie and other movies by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer are not parody movies but reference movies. Vampires suck movie though had at least one pretty good joke.

probably. the problem with such moves/tv shows is you have to get the mix just right or it would taste bad. also you can't cook it for to short or to long
no no scenes. they just show them dressed up or talking like them every now and again. Theres alot of them but its more like a light spice than the main flavor. Well you know how it is. They see a naruto or lupin reference and they forget everything else...

i dunno if i would've liked this as much if the director wasn't the director of Gintama. But compared to the other anime out there that claim to be "funny", this is better.

I wouldn't go so far as to say Gintama was shit, but I did find the episodes I watched completely unfunny. And that's not because I didn't get any of the parodies either, so I suppose it must just be a my taste/your taste thing.
