Chinese are aghast at the quality of their candidates for the Chongqing qualifier of the “Miss International” beauty pageant.
Although by the standards of Miss Locality competitions the official shots are not entirely out of place, private shots of one of the girls have surfaced which show just how grave the situation is:
Curiously, despite being run by Japanese and held in Japan and China, the competition has never actually been won by an East Asian girl, and seems to have almost exclusively been awarded to white (or dusky) girls from Europe and the Americas:
Although given the quality of China’s latest entrants this may not come as a surprise, a certain amount of suspicion about their judging criteria (officially they are judged as “Ambassadors of Peace and Beauty”) seems warranted.
