Koei has managed the perhaps unprecedented feat of accidentally publishing the wrong game, after it attempted to release a PSP version of Romance of the Three Kingdoms VIII, only to mistakenly place Romance of the Three Kingdoms VII on all the discs.
The title, released on the 12th as part of their “Teiban” classics series, included the wrong game on the UMD but was otherwise correctly marketed as VIII.
Koei have published a suitably formulaic apology, expressing their deep regret for the “great inconvenience” they have caused customers who were expecting the game on the package.
They also promise to replace the game with the right version, and have cancelled all sales of the present special edition whilst they sort out the mess and doubtless assign a few employees to cleaning toilets.
How exactly the mistake came to pass and how it was possible for them not to have picked up on it until the game was on sale has been the subject of much speculation, although it might always be possible games in the series are so similar they did check but didn’t notice…

...You mean one of the longest series of Grand Strategy games based on the life of Oda Nobunaga doesn't qualify as "Oda Nobunaga game"?
And finally, the series isn't know for it's ground breaking innovations to the genre, but perfecting it. 8 has a really cool "rpg" mode in it that was absent from 7 for instance, while the most recent is a (terrible) RTS.
Over reacting much? From your words, it seems like you actually like koei games to defend it with such vigor or just to prove a point. However, Dont get me wrong, i played all of koeis games that were released locally here in north america but its getting hella stale. I love stratagy games and simulations but enough is enough, obvious milking of the franchises.
Rereleasing classics is ok, but new iterations with new unheard of characters, create a hero, and twist in the plot doesnt make it a game worth buying unless your Activision

Oh it was the box for 8, the disk was labelled 8, but it wasn't the right game on the disk itself.
Like if you burn a movie, say, Pokemon the Movie 10, but when it's time with the sharpy on the disk to know what's on it, you write Movie 11.

This is proof that they put zero efforts into ports in 9/10 cases.
That may be the case for Koei, but Atlus hasn't failed me with P4: The Golden! It's even better than the original.
