Seeing Denpa Onna on there is quite a disgrace... Same goes to Angel Beats - while good, it was so minimally sci-fi related (at least from what it actually showed in the anime), the 5th spot isn't justified.
Ghost in the Shell needs to be set higher, same goes for Steins;Gate. And where's Bebop?
Its probably because Bebop seems more like a Western than a Sci-Fi. Not to mention the Japanese didn't realy like it anywhere near as much as other countries did.
I can see why the japanse wouldn't like it, as it was pretty much a crappy western in space. Characters were cool but there wasn't much else going for the series. The movie was great, but it felt like the target audience were 6 to 10 years old. All that shit about morals and not being supposed to kill everyone.

Well, it's no surprise you'd feel that way if you didn't actually watch the anime seriously.
A crappy Western? What? It was really more about a yakuza blood feud. But then, I guess actually focusing on the future of science and how it applies to and changes people's lives isn't sci-fi.
So this list is not about SF but about animes that fall for that category? Quite dumb I'd say

Others may have a differnt opinion but I never really thought of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya as a Sci-Fi.

This list is stupid, if only because several of the selections are barely sci-fi at all. And GitS nr.21...are you people stupid? Even Anime contains more real sci-fi than is in this list. Gahh....you people...

At least Denno Coil made to the list. One of the best Scifi anime after GitS.
And one of the most underated animes. I can't understand why it isn't more famous. It have great story, great animation and great soundtrack...

Gundam fits in a lot of categories but yes I agree with Gundam not being on the list, if it's mecha anime then it should be number 1 if not that list is is completely invalid.
Gundam is perfectly valid for this list but some mecha anime would be totally out of place (think Star Driver)
Yeah. Another example would be Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Sure, it has giant robots, but they pretty much run on manliness and badassery.
They must think it is a stand alone genre, or documentary series, or just want to forget AGE.
If Macross Frontier is number 8, then at least put Gundam Unicorn in the 3rd place and get rid that Infinite Shit from the list.

No, Gundam counts. If Macross Frontier made it up there (and while I love the Macross series, Gundam deserves to be up there too) and since there's a GIANT reminder that the Gundam Franchise not only exists but is pretty iconic I would put it in Science Fiction. Hell I'll even accept SEED (And I know to most people, that one is the popular one, but....meh)
Same thing as always; These lists have nothing to do with actual quality. It all comes down to which shows get the attention of the masses, and at least in this one, girls flying in bikinis rank higher than realism or good writing.
