An exploding refrigerator which blasted a hole in a brick wall is the latest object to menace China with its unexpected self-destruct functionality.
Chinese news reported the impressive devastation it caused:
The refrigerator was apparently made by LG, a South Korean company, although whether it was actually manufactured in Korea or China is not clear.

Is there anything not exploding in China?
It's quite fun just guessing what's gonna explode next!
The fridge decided to commit suicide since it couldn't stand living in a Chinese residence.
that's... racist.
There are actually a lot of good whiteware companies in China that sell high-quality products cheaply.
Granted, a lot of companies in China sell crap products, but the companies that have evolved to selling good products haven't made cost-cutting into an art yet.
Western refrigerators used to last 25 years a few decades ago, now they break after several years.
"Western refrigerators used to last 25 years a few decades ago, now they break after several years."
Blame Korea & China for that, til they started muscling in with significantly lower priced goods, reliability was never an issue. Now brands like GE produce the worst pieces of shit imaginable. [Never liked GE anyway.]
That said, I'll only buy major appliances from Samsung & LG. Their shit tends to hold up nicely.
Are we sure it was the fridge that blew up or the food that was inside.
I'm still waiting for cows.
Or underpants...
does "fresh" air count as non explosive???
can't count what isn't there.
Over pressurize a tank it esp a China quality one and you'll get an explosion.
Oxygen is needed for a lot of those big, fiery explosions to occur and China has lots of it.
Silly man. There is no fresh air in china.
Their bombs?
No, we did see that "China menaced by exploding explosives truck" story awhile back, though I guess explosives are not necessarily bombs.
Ack! china and their fail product unless the firecrackers are rapped in tinfoil or cost a fortune your wonderfully planned fireworks event suddenly turns into a life or limb situation. Box says 30 secs I say 10
Confucius say "If it made in China, expect a big bang".
Hahaha, that is a good one.
explosives don't explode in china.
@pantsu
so far everything has. so it leaves just the chinese people yet to just randomly take out a city block like a plane hitting the world trade centre
I wonder when the country itself explode.
Their imported piranhas?
lehnerus2000
And now look at the back of your monitor or mouse or keyboard or whatever and look for where it was manufactured.
No one is safe anymore.
its been awhile china
At least it didn't ex-...Oh wait...
How can they be so sure it was the refrigerator? Maybe it was the food in it. Or the wall.
Doesn't actually look like the refrigerator at all. I mean, a blast would've blown out most of the wall, not sucked into the dining area. Smells like a fake story or insurance fraud...
Something is definitely fishy, looking at that scene I have no idea what the fuck went on, they don't even show the refrigerator completely.
Then again, most of the time you hear chinese talking on the news you just know they're full of shit anyway.
"Something is definitely fishy [...]"
Well, this is China we're talking about.
Next story... China menaced by exploding Chinese!
The bio-accumulation of industrial chemicals finally leads to a spontaneously exploding populous.
Anybody remember that Samurai Pizza Cats episode "Blown-up with People".
"whether it was actually manufactured in Korea or China is not clear"
sure..
not clear..
A refrigerator? That's not very creative. You can do better than that China!
The kitchen sink is next.
Pfft...Nothing new~
ching chong ching chu bong bing bong ahh the beautiful chinese language:)
It's made in China, there's nothing not made in China nowadays.
Why is that reporter wearing a t-shirt? That is my main concern.
Well, he was probably in a 3-piece suit that spontaneously combusted on him, forcing him to strip the cameraman of his attire.
Because wearing "appropriate" clothes is too mainstream.
Have they done exploding toilet yet?
I'd like to see a translation of that report. Just looking at the video, a lot of things don't add up.
Agreed.
Looking at the rubble, it looks like the wall exploded, not the refrigerator. There is much more rubble inside the house, where the fridge would have been. If the refrigerator had caused the explosion, there would be much more rubble outside than inside.
My guess would be that the gas line in the wall exploded, not the refrigerator itself.
Probably, as Char said, the explosion was the result of an improperly installed propane powered refrigerator, not a flaw with the fridge itself.
In the US at least, LG is a respected brand.
This often happens when idiot contractors hook up the gas line to the ice maker. The gas then slowly leaks down the drain tube to the bottom of the refrigerator where the catch pan is located. Then when the automatic defrost timer nearby kicks on at some later point in the day, it then triggers the explosion, if the cooling fan hasn't done so already.
Faked. Bricks are blown in, back of fridge is buoyed, but brick has more durability than the aluminum sheet on that particular fridge (they sell it stateside too). The whole bottom would have been shredded like a frag grenade went off if there was any likelihood the fridge exploded. For that matter. All of the bricks are blown *inward*, do these people keep their fridge outside on the porch or something? Is this some sort of crazy chinese thing I don't understand? I doubt it. It's either sensationalism or fabricated news to make LG Look bad, as they're a South Korean maintstay, and China's primary equivalence is with North Korea. Too much bullshit going on in that video clip for anyone not retarded to take seriously XD
Am I the only one who's excited for the next round of "China Menaced By Exploding ______"?
Exploding stuff from China is 33% of the reason I'm on here on a daily basis!
Theoretically R134a is combustible under the right conditions but I have a feeling this was a propane powered refrigerator that was improperly installed.
china is as high as fuck
exploding anything from watermelon to referigerator
Michael Bay needs to make a movie in China. It will be all about explosions...!! XD
If you are offered Chinese condoms at a very cheap price, just say no. It's best not to take a chance.
