Sword Art Online Tells It Like It Is…

sword-art-online-1-001.gif
sword-art-online-1-002.jpg

MMORPG anime Sword Art Online’s brutal honesty in depicting the gender and looks of the players behind their virtual avatars has turned more than a few heads, as has the realisation that it is really an anime about creepy otaku pretending to be cute girls online…

sword-art-online-1-003.jpg

The actual anime is being reasonably well received in spite of the fact that almost all the cute girls are actually men (it remains to be seen whether it takes things a step further and has a few episodes devoted to camping rare mobs for hours only to have them stolen by Chinese gold farmers or worse still killing rats for days only to lose everything in a server rollback):

    Same World jut diffrent years
SAO currently is from 22-26 with Allicization
while AW is in the year 2046
and there is a Crossover ShortNovel with Kirito in the year 2026 testing the first Quantumdevice thats going to be the base of the Quantumdevices AW uses with a fight against SilverCrow(Lv4) that detected some timeanomaly in the burstworld.
Its an itneresting read and i hope it gets an OVA

    1st rule of the internet:
There are no women on the internet.
If there are, then it's just some sick guy imposing as a female.

Also, "crossing field" by LiSA is fucking awesome.
SAO's going to be the summer highlight for me, and fuck that Type-B otaku anime shit.

I am a guy and I always play female chars in games, However, I do not try to hide I am a guy, people need to learn its a damn videogame and not match.com or some shit. Why do I play female toons you may as? its simple, they usually far better looking, most mmorpg male chars are either stupid looking huge beefsticks, or bishounen boys that look like girls anyway. That and i'd rather have a nice ass to stare at on a female toon then stare at a male chars ass for hours and hours in game.

mmorpgs you mean. And there are women in them, the male players generally outnumber them while the total female toons is generally more than the total male ones but there are still female gamers. It varies depending on the mmo. Ive played with several over the years, voice chat and all soo.

it was written as a webnovel in 2002, an published as an actual book in 2009 after the author won a competition and got a contract.

also in the novels, it stated thta you actually couldnt change your gender in SAO... ut i guss sicne the info only came up in the sex-scene and sint too important otherwise (its just a little exposition explainign why their avatars have penis and vagina) and they wotn directly include that in the anime anyways, they didnt pay too much heed to that.

the ideas .hack and sao cover are completely different. sao is more about the impact this kind of technology would have on society and individuals.

I don't really see the point on comparing hack with SAO. Storywise they are not gonna be the same...it is like people go to the cinema to watch movies, people DON'T care if comedy, romance or action movies have been done to death, as long as it is ENTERTAINING without feeling it is a waste of time.

This show feels like .Hack// series with The Matrix living rules, which are :
Death in Virtual World == Death in Reality World; you can be a superhuman in this virtual world although you don't know about fighting; and you can't force disconnect or you're dead.

But actually, SAO is written in the same time of .Hack//Sign, so it is not influenced by .Hack//
The author said that this story is influenced by Ragnarok Online & Ultima Online.

Also, the story isn't focusing at the game's world. Later, the story will take place in the reality world with some scene about pseudo-incest romance, triangle love, greedy richman, AIDS issue, and so on.

I suggest you all to read the translated light novel in baka-tsuki before judge the story by reading some troller comments in sancom.

Actually it does. Not saying there arent guys out there that prefer to stare at a female as a guy player, but also pretending to be a girl to "seduce" a guy, especially for priority on drops, mission/quest assistance, etc, not to mention just flat out asking for in game currency.

    Dont forget THOSE players XD

Also the bit about farmers and rat campers... Yeah since the game is "play tough or die" and unless theres a way to "buy gold" while still connected to said game is possible since logging off to go to a gold farmers website to buy it is impossible, then there wont be any of that going on here. The 3 hour long rat killing session? Possible if respawn timesarent total crap and/or mobs respawn at all considering the mc's comment on "places being picked clean"

Old school FFXI player here, so i speak from that bubble in case you're wondering XD
