Rakugo anime Joshiraku not only possesses the unique distinction of being the first rakugo anime ever (and therefore presumably the cutest), it also probably the most honest of Type B titles ever, proclaiming as it does that it is “for appreciating the cuteness of girls without intrusive dialogue” – and cute they certainly are…
For those who have not encountered it before, “rakugo” is a traditional Japanese form of solo comic story-telling, in this day and age mostly appreciated by old people and NHK viewers, and not generally associated with cute girls… possibly why Joshiraku features it only in a scant few scenes.

This is rakugo, aka weird japanese humor that only japanese people can understand. Even with the subs, you wouldn't get why the jokes are supposed to be funny.

This type of anime is actually dying out, it doesn't take much of your time to go look up the likes of Sword Art Online and Accel World. Actually learn something about what is airing before assuming you know anything about the line ups.

In Japan, Americans are infamous for suing. They probably didn't have a contract with the real rights holders, so they pixelated him to make it less certain that that was the exact character they were depicting (even if everyone knows it is.)

It's written by the Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei guy and drawn by Yasu (Hokenshitsu). Good stuff if you're not looking for a plot! And sometimes we aren't.

wasnt 'sayonara zetsubou sensei" rakugo? there was another I saw too, but I cant remember the name, about middle school kids, it was almost completely random, one episode one if the males notices a girl who likes to suck on pencils, he somehow got her to suck on his finger then she bit it.
