FF7 PC Announced – This Is All You’re Getting…

Square Enix have finally announced some activity on the Final Fantasy VII front, and just as the leak suggested, it is one unlikely to satisfy even the none too lofty expectations of fans.

As previously detailed, a low spec PC is all that is needed to enjoy PSX-era FF7 with the addition of cheats, cloud saves and achievements.
Whilst the opportunity to lose saves to a server problem rather than merely due to a local hard drive failure is sure to be valued, the lack of graphical improvements or other enhancements (and amongst Japanese fans, the absence of a Japanese release) has led to some disappointment…

Did people forget there was already an FF7 for PC? They're redoing it to milk the franchise. Make something good and let 7 die out as it should.
It was already too late for 7 to die with dignity as soon as Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus came along...
Not everyone has a ps3 and the pc version are out of production so if you were to buy it via pc then you'd have to pay 30-40. If I'm not mistaken this pc version which sure they are adding some dinky features is only 7.99 or 10 dollars which is a great deal for a classic game.
Haters are gonna hate because they want to hate the game but if you ignore the fanboys and just play the game you'll see why it's such a hit, it offers so much content and for the 7.99 price tag it's definitely worth more than what you get from the 13-2 dlc.

it can be cheap, but doesn't change d fact that they are doing this because they wasted money with 13-serie
never played the original, so i'll take what i get
you can always pirate it tho and for pc you get the plettora of mods to make it HD quality, I'm sure this version won't be allowed the same modability that people had put in the old game
While I'm actually sure it's going to be a cheap reworking to make the engine compatible with most current systems.
I might buy it either way.
1- Get the PSX ISOs from the internet just under 3GB
2- Download and install PCSX, PCSX-Reloaded, ePCSXe or whatever psx emulator you prefer
3- Buy a good logitec psx-simil gamepad (coordless rumble pad 2 FTW!)
4- Play in your PC
Square Enix has fallen. It's no longer the game company everyone admired back in the good old day of gaming. It's now a shitty shell of its former self. The only thing good they can produce now is Kingdom Hearts but even that's going to end soon after 3.

They're not very good at working for money though. Every time the fans ask them for something, they essentially give them the finger and decide to work on some other ridiculously expensive project with a new engine that's out of date by the time it's done. And surprise, when it doesn't live up to what they're expecting it to sell, they crap out a sequel with some minor pandering to fans wishes and go on a spree of re-releasing old games with very few changes to them.
Companies work for money. There, I simplified it for you.

square doesn't think right these days, my friend. it's almost like they are trying to run the company into the ground. i've come to expect low quality from them and cant think of a game made by them that i'm looking forward to.

Why to expend money developing a game when they can just sell the old game in re-realse.
If morons and fanboys stoped buying re-realeases once for all may be the chances of getting a remake would improve.
seconding this. Full-on remakes might be worth the money (depending on how much it was improved and whatever's different from the original), but unless someone's a serious game collector, there should be no reason to go after every re-port out there. But looking on the bright side, the situation with FF7 has yet to be anywhere near as ridiculous as FF4 (there's gotta be at least 10 different versions of that one game, and only about two or three of them are actual remakes).
I think with this one, they are just porting it to Steam for more people to find out and play. I see nothing wrong here.

Yes, just like VIII. But i dont see anything wrong with putting it on steam.. especially when you see the prices for a new pc version of VII or VIII.
Now, if only they'd put it on Steam - their current statement is that it'll be exclusive to their own webstore. Yes, Square Enix apparently has a digital distribution store in the west. Yes, it comes with download/activation limits.
This company really needs that Meteorfall more than the fans do..

They could at least fine tune the already existing mods, port the character models from Crisis Core, or at least do SOMETHING other than an increased resolution port!

Both companies were the greatest of the 80s/90s, and now, together, it's just horrible, as some people said, only Kingdom Hearts was a true masterpiece although I doubt 3 will be good enough...
