Square Enix have finally announced some activity on the Final Fantasy VII front, and just as the leak suggested, it is one unlikely to satisfy even the none too lofty expectations of fans.
The trailer:
As previously detailed, a low spec PC is all that is needed to enjoy PSX-era FF7 with the addition of cheats, cloud saves and achievements.
Whilst the opportunity to lose saves to a server problem rather than merely due to a local hard drive failure is sure to be valued, the lack of graphical improvements or other enhancements (and amongst Japanese fans, the absence of a Japanese release) has led to some disappointment…

Play it on an PSX emulator on the PC. It looks tons better then this or the original PC version.
Too lazy to even just use the community graphically updated version, not really surprising but sad nonetheless. But hey achievements, everyone cares about those.

That video is fake. Everyone and their grandmother knows this. Look at that terrible job on the fake IGN logo. Please don't post that and give people false hope on something that will never be released. Althought when square enix stops making games and starts outsourcing maybe they will let another studio try their hand at making one when the director of ff7 needs a paycheck bad enough. The chances of that happening are very slim though since he's gone on record stating he doesn't want anyone touching his original work..

Square Enix should just have 1 extra option and 1 cheat code. Extra option = Tifa ona hole exploration. Buy that usb vagina and fuck Tifa! 1 cheat = female nude mode. Who doesn't want to see Tifa naked all the time?

They don't need to. Fans over at Qhimm have been making graphic mods for the PC versions for years now. You can download Aali's graphics driver, which allows for higher resolutions, widescreen, antialiasing, amongst other things.
They probably decided to re-release the PC version in order to capitalise on the modding community, as the only major thing holding them back is the fact that the PC version of FF7 is rare and hard to get a hold of for a decent price.
its already out on pc its called an emulator! People where hoping for better graphic voice acting and all that greatness what do we get .... a fuckin port well I'll just hook my ps2 up and pop the disc in thank-you
It was published on PC in 1998... You don't even need an emulator. I first played it on PC before falling in love with it and purchasing the PSX platinum...

Both companies were the greatest of the 80s/90s, and now, together, it's just horrible, as some people said, only Kingdom Hearts was a true masterpiece although I doubt 3 will be good enough...
I dont care, i am really happy about this. I would be more happy if my old pc cds would still be intact though :(

I actually lost saves to mem card problems with the original PSX.
I already own FF7 for PC... game came out for PC more than 10 years ago.. got the box, the disks, the manual...
What will this "new" edition provide anyway... proper support for windows xp/7 and no need for an additional patch to fix crashes that happen before the chocobo race and the submarine part?
Dont forget the fps problems with snowboarding
I bet it will be an exact replica, and they'll release the patches to fix the chocobo and submarine part a couple weeks after people realize they never fixed the original PC version.
