I'm a bit conflicted by this style of punishment. On one hand they really do deserve to be made public so people know who to keep an eye on. But on the other hand it could spawn even worse retaliation crimes. If it was me deciding these sorts of things, I'd offer it as an option, with anyone taking that option having their fees reduced by a small amount. Kind of like how you can opt in to public service to reduce the sentence on misdemeanors in the US.
