Mysterious Girlfriend X’s fetishistic ending’s departure from the original manga has, for once, been greeted with considerable enthusiasm by drooling girlfriend fans.
Although there is no sign of a second season and not much prospect of one, fans certainly appear to be eagerly awaiting one anyway – as usual, much depends on how many discs it shifts.

The scene in the graveyard with them was very touching. She could sense Akira's sadness when his mother passed away. Very sweet.

It's artistic licence. The artist does show her eyes when she's being emotionally vulnerable. That, and she's based a tiny bit on the villain of "The Ring".

A kiss is something very different. And it is very CLEARLY turned into an awkward fetish here. You can show this to just about any person and you will get an awkward reaction from them, positive or negative. Most people are not as much upset as they are taken aback or they grow tired or indifferent about it after each new episode.

I didnt like the unique drawing-style at first but i think its still good because it works with the unique story.
the style of drawing this anime uses is very much reminiscent of the days when 3x3 eyes were still popular. Its actually refreshing to see this kind of anime as opposed to the more recent and modern drawing styles.
Best series for this season for me, it was really nice how they managed to capture the manga and really turn it into an anime adaptation. hope they make another season though
Nice show but that spit fetish...was just creepy. Never felt quite right and it certainly outlived its welcome. It's a bad design choice to design the rest of the story around the fetish, that's for sure.

Am I the only one who hated Urabe? She was basically teasing her so-called boyfriend the entire time. Even the smallest levels of intimacy like a hug were off limits and the only time they shared spit was off the end of her finger.
Of course, if that's your idea of romance more power to you...
The drool was the bond that they shared. And through that bond - a closeness developed that made their relationship incredibly strong.
If you recall... Urabe was going to let Subake kiss her. But he thought about it and declined. Why? It should be something special. He wasn't ready for that. The bond (drool) they shared was already pushing him to his limits. So to kiss or more... would have been something far beyond his comprehension.
One of the reasons this show is fantastic is because it had a completely original concept. It's approach was one of a kind.
You should learn to appreciate that.

It was a sweet ending, I'm not sad at all like when my other favorite shows end. I like the idea of the drool bond, as "romantic" and "innocent" as it is in the show, the man in me really just wants to yell "stick your finger in a different spot, then lick it."
DA BEST DRAWING-STYLE!!!! liked it so much!!! viva la nostalgia!!! that style had more charme and character than almost any recent (looking-all-the-same btw) ecchi, harem, romance, comedy, shounen-shit blah blah blah anime imo. Really enjoyed Girlfriend X for its style!!! Haters gonna hate and potatoes gonna potate!!! Deal with it... =^.^=
This Anime series was great, but I disagree about the art-style. This looked a lot like most of the generic Anime of the 90's. Basically, they all have the same face, and lack of charm as well.
"Original ending"? This was all in the manga. They didn't exchange saliva though, only Urabe tasted Tsubaki's drool. And of course this isn't the ending per-se as the manga is still going.
I feel that this is a nice wrap-up that works whenever there is a second season or not. If they had kissed then yes, goodbye second season, but this and Suwano's appearance in the penultimate episode (mayor teaser!!!) gives me hope.
And it seems like the OAD will be a crossover with Discommunication. The staff list shows both Arika and Matsubue along with Urabe and Tsubaki so it'll be an original story.
This show really is cute and it had such a sweet warm ending. Though, cutest of all in this show is Tsubaki's sister. I want to taste her drool.

can't do second season with self made out ending, Sankarea on other hand can still get a second season.
B/C Sankarea had an open-ending; meaning that most likely the way the first season ended, it may very well get another season.
