That surprised me too. Some updated scenes looked really unnatural, while some others looked more bland than the original. So the question is: why did they do it?
perhaps it's hard to see out of context with still images. just a guess, but it's possible that the reasons for the change become clearer when watching the actual animation...
Because not every "upgrade" is a subjective improvement. The particularly objective changes were probably meant to be drastically different in the first place, but had to meet somewhere in the middle due to time constraints.
Huh? We must be seeing different things then, because most of the scenes look quite improved over the original.

I can't actually tell myself, it'd be really handy if they marked them or said something like every second picture is the BD.
They switch. Sometimes the first pic is bd,sometimes the second.Look at the eyes:ususally a giveaway. Or colour boundaries: the gradient is usually softer.

Subtle changes in the BD version thought it would be more audacious.
It was just a color change here and there in general, hopefully the extra footage is worth?! But the entire episode shows SC in frames on the topic,was apparently a few seconds more and still censored, sad :P

Not any improvement at all,recent BD releases(apart Highschool DXD) are very deludent,this one and ZNT Final in particular...I don't understand the reason of censoring an anime,also considering the late night time of airing,but to censor a disc release,that i have to pay for,is simply ridicoulus!
