The campaign of Anonymous to free Japan from the bondage of unduly harsh copyright law has got off to a less than auspicious start after the group bumblingly hacked the wrong site, thinking it was humiliating the central government by defacing their site only to find it had instead ruined the site of a river works office in Ibaraki.
Along with various political and official websites loosely connected to the law (for some reason Japan’s recording industry mafia group JASRAC has been spared), Anonymous defaced the site of the Kasumigaura river management office, a governmental body primarily concerned with flood control and water management in eastern Kanto.
It is believed that they actually thought they were targeting Kasumigaseki, a region in central Tokyo full of government offices and also a euphemism for these government departments:
<ho> my friend has a question that is anon was mistaken about Kasumi-gaura http://www.kasumi.ktr.mlit.go.jp/ and Kasumi-gaseki
<&Juzzy> What do you mean Anon was mistaken?
<c0ug4r> tell me about kasumi
The site itself has been restored along with a terse message from the department affected saying how regrettable it is and how they will try not to let it happen again.
This has not done the reputation of the super-hackers much good in Japan:
“Sad!”
“How lame!!!!!!”
“That’s just cute.”
“Anonymous is so cute.”
“What a mistake…”
“Dojikko Anon.”
“Dojikko moe!”
“Get some members who actually know something about Japan.”
“The poor people of Ibaraki prefecture…”
“They targeted a river management authority?”
“They don’t even know any Japanese, what a useless bunch of incompetents.”
“And they had such a good image…”
“My prefecture’s lakes!”
“Oh, and this time they didn’t just knock it offline, they replaced it?”
“They could just replace Kasumigaura’s site with that of Kasumigaseki, problem solved!”

Question, is Anonymous is using google translate?
Answer, probably yes
Hey, It's something... is really hard to hack a fucking japan site.
let the japan site cum then hack when cuddling
LOL lameeee !!
Yes, they are. It's sad because some of them are European otakus, but the script is too difficult to learn, it's not that simple case like for example with cyrillic. Hiragana and katakana are not that useful without kanji knowledge, although there are sites that add furigana with some success...
Waseihou
You can read Japanese with just kana knowledge just fine. And Firefox has browser extensions which let you insert furigana everywhere.
It takes more time to read than the kanji script, but it's not impossible.
Close Enough
it was a "japanense gov" site...
they should just leak every information of japan and problem solved =D
it happens, Im not surprised if they can't read moonrunes.
They wrote 'scentence' lol.
And bungled several other parts of the message.
Was this even really done by Anonymous?
"We are a legion". Really now?
It might be a Japanese Anonymous. Although if they're versed enough in the global Anonymous their english should be well enough to know the motto.
"You may as why?"
Herp derp. GG Anon, gg.
Way to go, Anonymous. You actually hit the right country!
We are not Anonymous
We are legion
We are laughing at you
Expect us... to ROFLOL
strange that they completely violated sony-chan than....no one who got nuclear ass-fucked by that fiasco was laughing. But than anonymous is not a tight-nit group by any means.
I imagine this is a bunch of idiot teen-somethings and skiddies, not someone with even remote knowledge of coding and programming.
While I agree with you that they seem to have no programming knowledge, I highly doubt its a bunch of teens due to the fact that there not all "derp we hacked you were so cool" in their posts and seem to have sensible grammar. They are morons though no question there.
Well, there are some world-class hackers who claim themselves as part of it as an ideal, and then of course there are those on the forefront who know nothing but wish to do something.
The issue is most people aren't intelligent enough to understand what Anonymous is. Anonymous is a connotative representation of an ideal, and an ideal cannot be hijacked by any one group. The new term "Anonymous" was born to describe a unilateral hive mind toward an ideal or thought process, which can lead to actions taken by the collective in one direction or another. Often trolling for lulz though.
A group name of "Anonymous" does not make them Anonymous the ideal. In fact by even attempting to focus the ideal of Anonymous, they are in fact violating it. Having a leadership making decisions for the hive mind makes them drones, not a sovereign entity of matching ideals that has no borders and no leaders. That which made Anonymous what it was was how it formed with no true leadership, but ideas that led to actions across the planet despite any logic or direction. A countless-headed hydra that is representative of the new state of planetary consciousness and its constant evolution.
I don't disagree with the idea of trying to focus that energy through a point of 'attack' in order to better the planet. I do find it beautifully ironic that the Internet Hate Machine completely inadvertently began producing justice though...
brb, church.
can someone translate this into american?
I think he means that the anonymous group is just summerf"s trying to use an ideology.
he's saying shota should be allowed to let on computer
Just had a GITS SAC flashback!
Anonymous is more of a big cluster fuck of wildly different ideological groups that at times will agree on something.
There is no hive mind involved.
Someone picks a target and the mass follows.
It is not a collective decision.
That is the reality not their self proclaimed bullshit.
Anonymous is whoever decides to call themselves anonymous at a given time. The only principle anon follows is that we have an unspecified identity.
Anyone claiming to represent the views of anonymous doesn't really understand what it means.
-Anonymous
But your an anonymous too
I'm anonymous. They're Anonymous with a capital 'A'. As names go, it doesn't show much imagination, does it?
it say "Comment by Anonymous"... looks like a capital A to me.
^
Someone give them address to a Japanese porn website so they can attack that instead of the government it would piss off more Japanese that way.
Indeed.
Way to go to make bold proclamation and entrance with a bang...of own head against the doors.
We are not Anonymous
We are legion
We are Gaijin...
Gaikokujin. Gaijin is the intolerant term, for someone to call themselves that is like a black calling himself nigger.
We are very stupid Gaijins
they even got
`we are a legion` wrong, should be
`we are legion`
twits...
This is like those scenes where a player displays incredible agility to make a spectacular touchdown.
In the wrong endzone.
lol it truly is
Moe Anon
How exactly do you even mess something like this up?
They just hack the wrong site? To their defense, those names are pretty alike.
Boy are their faces red.
May be it's just a distraction. While people rofl they will strike.
Collateral.
Keep going, anon.
Hack the Planet, Hack the world!
You can't hack into a rock, no matter how "1337" you are.
Dojikko anon. how cute.
I agree. It's most amusing to see something like that.
I like how japanese confuse anonymous with real hackers.
the japanese don't know any better than anonymous itself.
they don't fuckin' care about Anonymous.. n00b hacker ?
I like how people talk as if Anonymous is the same group of people.
Also, real hackers don't break into websites, noob.
They're all 15 year old faggots, so yes Anonymous is the same group of script kiddie faggots.
LOL.. just LOL...
self deprecation?
