In Heaven's Feel Sakura gobbles up Gilgamesh and subjugates Saber. Lo and behold, Carnival Phantasm will do you much better, with plenty of Saber fanservice and Gilgy not being KO'd by the supernatural.

Saying it's the best ending ever for a Fate series isn't saying much at all... Because most of the Fate series are shit. It's just saying the only one that's actually alright is... Alright.
The VNS were good. They don't compress down well to 25 or 26 episode tv series.

F/SN, UBW, and Tsukihime all had pretty bad endings.
No, no they didn't.
You may not like it, but those endings were great nonetheless. In fact, they were masterpieces. The ending in the UBW route is still one of my favorites to this day.
if you call the typical japanese "he'll never get the girl" ending a bad ending then you must suffer a lot because there is almost no anime/manga/dorama/movie without that stereotypical ending
For nasu's novels i understood that there is no harem ending, otherwise that will happen in carnival phantasm ep 12
Closest thing to a Harem ending would be the Good Ending for UBW, where Shiro ends up with both Rin and Saber.
Rin having become Sabers master and providing the Prana to keep her in the world.
Course that kinda leaves Sakura in the lurch.

fate/stay night is good not great. Fate route was shit, UBW was cool and actiony, and Heaven's Feel was good.
Honestly, Nasu's the weakest link in the production team. His writing style tends to repeat ideas or sentences in the same paragraph. The concepts in his universe are interesting and yet sometimes overly convoluted.
Even his characters follow a similiar archetypes he's used in the past.
I'd rather see a sequel or Archer's route animated.
While I agree that Nasu's writing can be a bit repetitive and weak. (There IS a Fate route after all...) I still consider Nasu a very necessary part of the team. The whole Nasuverse is his making after all, and the setting is just amazing!
The inner workings of magic, the search for the root, mystic eyes (of death perception, among others), The magic association, the church, the holy grail war. (Fighting for what is considered the 726th Holy Grail, 726th!), the 27 dead apostles, reality marbles, the 5 true magics / sorceries...
The setting itself is just really, really fascinating! The Type-moon games just wouldn't be the same without the Nasuverse.
In a way, Fate/zero shows what happens when you combine Nasu's very strong setting, with Urobuchi's strong writing, so I can't really imagine a type-moon without Nasu...
