Top 10 Slice of Life Anime

The slice of life anime, that great favourite of Type B fans, has been subjected to ranking by its many fans – with KyoAni’s showing as strong as ever in a genre it dominates rather strongly…
The term “slice-of-life” actually has no direct equivalent in Japanese – the (very) close equivalent being “kuuki-kei” (空気系 – loosely, “atmosphere type”), describing works which centre developing a distinct “atmosphere” rather than a follow a storyline.
The almost synonymous “nichijou-kei” – “everyday life type” – shares practically the same definition.
These terms describe a loose genre centred on the interactions of moe characters, (frequently unrealistic) everyday settings, and a lack of overarching story, most often being derived from 4 panel manga.
Having only taken shape in the last decade, defining examples are likely to be familiar – Azumanga Daioh!, Lucky Star, K-ON! and Nichijou being some of the most representative.

I like the list, I am just surprised A-Channel is not there. I enjoyed that series quite a lot. Loving seeing Yuru Yuri and Nichijou up there.
That list is perfect. It has all my favorite slice of life anime, and more.

Sadly, STRAWBERRY MARSHMALLOW/ICHIGO MASHIMARO isn't even on the full list. I guess it's been too long since the last IchiMashi OVA.
Maybe if Barasui could get back to drawing more than 4 to 6 pages of the IchiMashi manga a month, there'd be enough material for another few OVAs or even another 1-cour late night TV series.
People were too focussed on the lolis to remember that it was slice of life.
Damn! That is one that I believe is 100% deserving to be on the list. Other than myself, I've recommended that show to guys, girls, hard-core Anime fans and newbies alike and every single one of them have thanked me for it.
No A-Channel, Azumanga Daioh, Strawberry Mashmallow, Shinryaku! Ika Musume, Best Student Council, Hanasaku Iroha, and School Rumble too.
Well at least Nichijou, K-On!, Lucky Star, Yuruyuri, Hidamari Sketch, and Ore no Imouto are on the list. I am content with this list.
Personally I didn't like A-Channel, but I adored Hanasaku Iroha
It's sad, but it was so long ago thet's hardly for anyone to remember such a good series. Worse than SM, where is Azumanga Daioh? :(

Danshi underranked? Haha, for an anime that barely managed to hit 2k sales, it's extremely overranked.

Sorcery of Reality. Working IS better than Oreimo. Oreimo put too much emphasis on character moe, and the story fall short behind Working in Slice of Life genre. If I would categorize Oreimo, I would put it under 'Drama' genre rather than slice of life.
Well, I wasn't really referring to the Slice of Life, but I get what you mean.

There were two two-episode OAVs. Probably not enough for anyone to remember, and honestly the anime wasn't THAT good, compared to the manga. A slice of a slice of life.

Now that you mentioned it Ika Musume should be in the top ten... maybe, like me, people forgot that it was slice of life since the main character isn't human... So Chi Sweet Home is slice of life too?

Wow, Acchi Kocchi isn't finished yet, but it's already the 4th. And yes, unfortunately this list has no A-Channel and Ichigo Mashimaro, I also enjoyed them a lot. Especially the Ichigo, it's just filled with the atmosphere of everydayness and carefree childhood and could be #1 in this list.
